  1. I actually have plans to sell my tele on Saturday morning. Then I am buying a yamaha THR10 amp, and trying harder to sell some amps I don't need.
  2. If they fudge on disclosure that's never a good sign. Sure it looks good but who knows what has happened to it in over 50 years.
  3. Where is the Aceburst now? I know Brent had it, but I don't think he has it anymore.
  4. And on the 8th day, God created this....
  5. Just wait till someone buys that Grand Ol Opry monaco from Willcutt's
  6. Wait, when did the Aceburst get butchered? I missed something.
  7. I'm trying to remember whether I got to here or the HOC first. I think it was here. Then I went to the HOC. Of course, I got my first hamer buying off of the Carvin Museum forums, and then Hamer Addict Russ sent me here. Yep! Came here in August 2009. First started in the HOC in 14 Sep 2009.
  8. You can also get the finish to lift. The woods used are different and shrink and expand at different rates related to temperature and moisture. It's very common to have finish breaks at those kind of areas.
  9. I rarely switch pickups. The only guitar I've swapped out recently was my Hamer Diablo in Aztec gold, because one of the pickups literally died. So I went with two new ones, and have been VERY happy. I do have another guitar that seems to be missing "something", and I keep wondering whether swapping out the stock Schaller pickups for something like Pearly Gates will get the sound I want.
  10. I had a plan for a pedal board, but then it turned into a bass pedalboard, so I have all these pedals just kinda sitting there. Also I have two carvin rack XP4 effects processors, that sound really REALLY good. Sure they aren't as easy to tweak as floor units, but i've found most people with pedals set and forget it, often marking where they like it. The only ones they really tweak are the overdrive pedals, so pretty much ALL of my pedals are OD pedals. I should also add that the XP4 has a KILLER rotary speaker simulator. Now I just need to decide whether to buy a "pre-made" pedal board or try to make something myself.
  11. Just wait until you get to rotary speakers, Then you have controls for the speed and intensity (depth) of the tweeters and woofers.
  12. The more expensive rotary speaker simulators do. The Fulltone Tremolo pedals have mix controls as well. The fulltone is probably the cheapest, as the rotary speaker simulators can be pretty expensive. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SupaTrem/
  13. Earlier set neck Carvin's from the 80s were 24.75 scale. Now they are 25 scale with the neck throughs.
  14. NICE!!!! Best of luck in the new venture! Hopefully he'll be able to grow his company and succeed.
  15. damn. That was a GREAT deal. nice finish, appears to be in great shape, and has that kicking birds eye neck. Only 'down side" is the lack of the original case.
  16. Ahh yes! Now I remember. He used a ton of pinch harmonics to give some hair to the lower notes in Eruption. Seems like he used a lot more pinches during the Van Halen (album) era than he was during the 1984 era. Nothing beats pinch harmonics with divebombs.
  17. Does EVH really use pinch harmonics very much? Usually when I think of a pinch harmonic it's a fretted note where you use your picking hand to create the harmonic. EVH is using full string harmonics on the various nodes on the whole string like at the 4th 5th 12th fret position.
  18. ZZ Top. A lot more judicious use of the pinch than Zakk Wylde. Also I can't stand zakk Wylde's tone on the pinches. It's so unmusical, and he does them so often it just because annoying.
  19. That standard used to be a sunburst.
  20. so far, knock on wood, I haven't broken any necks. I come from the Trombone world, so I'm used to thinking of anything that could possibly harm my babies. Trombones are much LESS resistant to things like dents, etc than a guitar, and they are also quite a bit less sturdy.
  21. I have one of those stew mac things, and they are the real deal. Also a lot cheaper than their other puller, which pulls just about everything, including things like bridge bushings. I used it on my G&L legacy which had the numbers in a location that made no sense at all, and they weren't all the same either.
  22. I don't think it'll stick. The melody is different. The chord progression, is it the same? or does it just sound the same? falling chromatic bass lines are a staple of music, and have been for decades.
  23. I can say I have been very happy with all of my EBMM basses and guitars. They are well made and versatile, even though the vast majority of guitars are Strat, Tele, and Super strats with bolt-on necks. They have a lot of great features I love, like those oiled necks.
  24. That polara on sweetwater looks interesting, though I think My SG might try to kill it. Just a shame that they worked pretty hard to recreate the great guild guitars, and now POOF gone again.
  25. They shipped all of the machinery/etc to Arizona? I would think it might almost be cheaper to find a local seller rather than transport it all the way to arizona. Maybe they are going to bulk up custom operations. Who knows. As for guild, hopefully SOMETHING happens. It's shape to see a storied name get tossed back and forth and have repeated attempts to start production fail.
