  1. The box from Musician's Friend came, after the Memorial Day sale decision that may or may not have been fueled by beer. The Yamaha Reface YC keyboard is in there, cool. Organ noises on deck. And look, they threw in some picks! How did they know? Now where are those MIDI cables? Oh... picks instead of MIDI cables. No bueno. TIme to call India, where they can't send me cables, but they can refund my cable money and ask if they can take a re-order over the phone. No, thank you.
  2. I enabled and it feels so good! A work buddy asked what I thought of a Deluxe ASAT Special - apparently Sweetwater had a deal that called to him. I gave a thumbs-up for G&L quality, and his guitar arrived today and he is blown away with it, flat-out love at first... whatever.
  3. Clicking. Cranking. Enjoying. Thanks and happy new year!
  4. Finally the weather cooperated when I had time and thought of it to take some pictures for a future for sale thread. I haven't been playing much lately, and I could use some money for other things, and after trying some different styles/models/makers I have started figuring out what works for me and what I haven't been able to make work - you know how it is. And I saw the Shishkov Ultimate case. That one would bring more than any of these others, maybe I should take some pictures while I have the camera out. Open the case, pull it out, .... Nope. Damn, this thing sounds, feels and looks like no other. The day may come, but not today!
  5. Now we need "Come on Eileen" done as "CoVID19" .
  6. My friend had a 73 or 74 Chevy Laguna. Drummer. And I was in that car when a bag full of just-purchased fireworks was accidentally set off in it. We were probably listening to something like this:
  7. I remember that a friend in high school had both that one and Lenny and the Squigtones.
  8. I'm surprised he could spell PRS if he couldn't read Shishkov on the headstock. Any colorful figured wood top guitar that isn't an LP shape must be a PRS, I guess.
  9. Just now is the first time I think I ever saw a Guitar Center commercial on broadcast TV. On the local NBC (no idea how to tell if it was a local buy or the network feed), during the Saturday Night Live Christmas Special, over the air. I don't remember what else they pimped - it took me a moment to realize what was on the screen - but they advertised Ernie Ball guitar strings as great gift items. How does this fit in with the declining guitar-interested demographic, I wonder?
  10. I sold a guitar! It was a Korean import Daytona, and it's going to a middle school-aged young man interested in learning to play. I didn't want to create a Gone Guitar Day post, but I am a little proud of myself for making a baby step in reducing the overstock. Maybe I can move another one or three as we transition to Christmas money/tax refund season.
  11. Slightly too young for that. I'm trying to make peace with what is attainable. Being a guitar owner is attainable. I have attained it. Peace!
  12. If I ever find a t-shirt with the message "World's Okayest Guitar Owner", that's the one I should buy.

  14. TGP jargon update! Observed on (and copied and pasted from) TGP this morning: "I got three guitars back from my preferred luthier yesterday." We need a new meme.

  16. In other words, dude looks like a lady.
  17. I don't think it's beyond me, but it's definitely a hurdle to get over. It's taking me back a few years to when I picked up guitar again after decades off. I know what rhythm is. I know what my hands should be doing. But they, especially the left (I'm right-handed), seem to have what I characterize as "Tourette's of the hand". They misfire independent of my intentions, and off-rhythm, quite often. It decreases with practice, but it's an annoyingly slow process to shed the spasms. I figure I'm at the same point that every musician that performs two independent tasks at once has to get past: piano, drums, singing while playing anything. Just playing guitar, even though the two hands do different things, they are working together to produce a single sound the majority of the time. I should have worked on this in my teens, not my 50's. ETA - I was surprised to find that turning it around and playing the eighths rhythm with my right hand and the quarters scale with my left was almost instantly successful. I speculate that guitar familiarity was responsible.
  18. Piano is kicking my ass. Just trying a straight-eighths left hand and quarter note scale with the right is a disaster. Apparently my left and right hemispheres are fused.
  19. Disap-POINT-ed! https://reverb.com/news/what-is-reverse-reverb-and-how-do-i-use-it I thought it was going to tell me how to ship my excess gear to someone and get them to pay me for it.
