Different metal, the Schaller that we speak of has a cast alloy base plate and the OFR's and Gotoh's, and now the Schaller Lockmeister that Austin mentioned, have a sheet steel one. Also, just as a side line, with the Lockmeister it comes with OFR type long string lock screws but it can also use the short type so you can in effect have a steel base plate floyd in the smaller cast base plate route if that's your bag. Oh, and Schaller now plate their black screws and stuff with a different material so they don't rust immediatley like they used to......very handy if you're hyperuricemic like me. Good to know. Don't you just love a forum and it's members that keep a self-avowed Floyd whore like me in the know?

I tend to replace mine every 4- 5 years or so, depending on how much abuse they get, with a fresh Floyd. Such is my mania for whammy performance. Sadly, I only have black Schaller-mades, Hamer stamped or otherwise.

Agreed! I still defy anyone to watch the Winterland performance on Kissology Vol. 1 and point out what's a joke about that. The "KISS" part. With respect to differing opinions, I'd have to disagree on that one, jwhitcomb3. I get that not everyone likes KISS but it's hard to dispute that during their heyday, and specifically, the Winterland show McChris is referring to, that they were anything less than killer. It was, for it's time, a spectacle beyond measure and the perfect brew of musicianship, showmanship and raw rock n roll guts. But that's my opinion-

+1, I noticed that too. I didn't think too much about it at the time as I haven't followed KISS that closely lately, but you're right! P.S. I'd rather LAND in a B-17G (it's a G but probably painted up like a E model, the chin turret and cheek gun positions are a dead giveaway), than miss out on half the flight! Correct. It was a G built in 1945 but never engaged in combat bombing missions- it was then "recommissioned" as the 9-0-9 which did complete 150 missions and was a E class Fortress. I guess it depends on your perspective- to me, I got the best of both worlds- got to take off and fly in a WW2 era B-17 and then I got to indulge in my 2nd most favorite activity- skydiving from said B-17. I'd take skydiving over flying around any day of the week and twice on Sundays... The only thing that could've made it better were if they were piping Detroit Rock City thru speakers in the 9-0-9!!!

Yeah, well I guess I'll wear a helmet cam on my next trip to New Orleans. Otherwise there's just no way. I'd like to see a pic of you wearing a helmet cam at a family function, Kiz.

I didn't watch the clip, but you're right - that's really irritating. It's for that reason that I don't take a camera with me when I'm on a vacation or at a family function. It gets in the way of the experience and even the memory of the event. I look at photos that I've taken in the past and, while I remember taking the pictures like it was yesterday, I don't remember experiencing the event itself. I dunno. Some things just BEG to be documented. Like this event yesterday: Jumping out of a Boeing B-17 E Flying Fortress. The shot below was made by my helmet cam and in no way interfered with the enjoyment I experienced.

Damn right. Snakeskin is one of several iconic 80's RAWK graphics that came to mind when I was trying to determine how to adorn the Cali. Not to toot my own horn but I'll bet you'll see my design aped a few times after pics surface on Dan's website.

IMO, Destroyer was and is my pivotal KISS studio album. It embodies all of the qualities I looked for most in a group/album/music at that point in my life- it had all the sturm und drang, darkness, polish, attitude and guitar tone I could've hoped for. The dark and mystical side of God of Thunder just hypnotized me and there were few, if ANY anthems that spoke more to my burgeoning rock n roll teen rebel persona than King of the Nighttime World & Detroit Rock City. Lastly, there was something magical and romantic about Great Expectations which undoubtedly spoke to my red-lining libido, as well as my closely guarded romantic side

This/\ While I was pretty bummed when I found out Alive was not completely "live", it still embodies the energy and the attitude that was the KISS phenomenon. That one album had a more profound effect on my musical interests and direction than any other. It just barely surpassed Jimi Hendrix' Are You Experienced in it's impact and that's saying a LOT.
