  1. Well, another way to look at it is that as small as Hamer is they have a much larger footprint in the industry than might be warranted by such a small company. Many great innovations and great players have been associated with Hamer. That could mean that there is a lot of potential profit to be tapped if marketed correctly. I like the business plan Mike Lee put forth re. the different tiers of Hamer and how they could compete against Gibson. It works in the car industry; like Scion, Toyota and Lexus etc. This model allows companies to use a synergistic approach to tap different segments of the market. It could work for Hamer.
  2. Wow, so many good and/or bad things can come of this; Will Fender possibly bring back shredders like the Cali or would they think it's competition for their Jacksons? Even if they do they probably wouldn't be made in the same Hamer factory they have now. It doesn't seem like it would be that difficult for them to tool up at the same place they make Jackson now. Will they beef up the Slammer /Korean Hamer short scale guitars to compete more with Epiphones? Will they kill the strat type slammers (no biggie for me) to protect the squier low end line. Will they want to kick up production on USA Hamers to more directly compete with Gibson short scale guitars?
  3. Nowadays most ppl use multiple boards to sell things. I don't think he did anything "wrong". It's not anyone's new guitar until full payment is made, and the guitar is received in the hands of the new owner. The early bird gets the worm.
  4. +1. If the back can't be the same finish as the top, why not just leave it natural ? I have never understood the popularity of black guitars. Fingerprints and such always seem to stand out, far more than other colors. To each his own, I guess. I agree that it would look better but I'm sure it's done from a cost perspective. Opaque (black) paint covers up everything including many pieces of wood, imperfections etc. Where a natural stain finish shows everything good or bad. I'm not necessarily saying PRS, or anyone else, is hiding inferior wood behind paint but it makes sense to a manufacturer; the best wood is selected for stain finishes and the not-so-pretty stuff gets painted. Hamer has surprised me though in a few cases where stripped guitars had beautiful grain underneath. Not sure what you'd find under some Gibson painted finishes.
  5. Have you ever had a short scale guitar then? Probably not if you've only had bolt-ons. It's a different feel and sound but I bet you'll like it. I like switching back and forth, but lately have preferred the shorter scales (such as the Tritonic instead of the pentatonic!). Good score!
  6. You need to get it then! It's good stuff!!
  7. great color..everything really. Nice!
  8. Why would he buy it and flip it so quick for no profit? In fact he had to pay shipping to get it to his house and pay ebay fees to sell it? That looks like a nice guitar nevertheless - real classy.
  9. I just found it on the Dean board. Thanks for the email reply as well.
  10. How did Sammy H screw The Godz? And, were they ever on a Mike Varney heavy metal compilation album (I might have the wrong band...I'm not sure). I loved Riot. They made a little run. We knew of them in CA back in the day. Y&T, one of my favs from that era. They were fairly successful (very successful in many ways) but I always felt they deserved even more. I always liked Tygers of Pan Tang, Enuff Z nuff...and someone I'm pretty sure most of you will not know; Laurie Freelove from Austin, TX.
  11. There have been a lot of Chaps on Ebay lately. A set-neck Custom just went for around $550.
  12. You need to get King's X's Ogretones. Best of theirs in years!
  13. I forgot to mention I have everything from Liz Phair. I love that girl...I mean I LOVE that girl.
  14. edited to add descriptions: King's X= all studio, all of the solo stuff (except 1 or 2 from Dug, I have one of his), demos etc. Sometimes it took awhile to get into their albums but then it would really hook you. Now I just lkike 'em right off. One of the best live performances I've seen. Very cool ppl too!! then probably Cheap Trick I love the Beatles influence and they just write nice catchy pop tunes that rock, I like how the guys have stuck together (w/ a little break for Tom in there) maybe Scorpions next? I haven't been into the newer stuff as much now but I really loved Lovedrive as my favorite (desert island stuff for me), I liked the aearlier stuff w/ Uli Jon Roth and the later cheesier stuff too. edited to add: I forgot Dream Theater! I haven't been into the newer stuff as much now but I really loved Images and Words and Awake, Falling into Infinity was my 1st one and then I got everything else past and present Alcatraz (another post reminded me), I own all of them, or I should say I guess I still have them around! I like Gragham Bonnet. Plus the early stuff w/ Yngwie had some guys from New England (I have 2 of theirs two...was that NE's whole catalog?)
  15. Guys, and all the many hot girls on this board, check out the link in the other thread about amp clips. There are some of this amp and it rocks! Also, I was surprised that the cleans were so good.
  16. Hmm, that last pic...I could be the meat in a tasty Goth sandwich! I was going to go to their unplugged performance down here in ATL but I couldn't make it.
  17. Hey, just more cushion for the pushin' right? Actually, you're just fine the way you are. In fact, what's your sign? ; )
  18. She looks pretty hittable to me, unless she's the girl in the orange shirt! ; )
  19. I thought faux auctions weren't allowed on this board?
  20. Peter is a cool dude that puts his money where his mouth is and I think that makes ppl jealous at times. I say rock on!
  21. Wow...THUD! again! That is beautiful!!!
  22. Wow! THUD!! My hat's not even in the ring for this one, cuz the fightin's gonna be fierce for this one boys!! A Hamer shredder record could be set.
  23. Reread the lyrics to Man I'll Never Be in the other thread. It could be shed some light on how he felt. That song kept running through my head last night while I tried to sleep and it was just bugging me. This bothers me more than if he just had a heart attack. I wonder how his fiance is feeling right now? His family etc. Must be hard not to feel guilty in some way - right or wrong. I always wonder was it some stupid little thing that put him over the edge. Yesterday, I was stressed...work...some personal shit etc. and when I took my daughter to her tennis lesson I was looking for the checkbook to pay the tennis academy and couldn't find it. My wife keeps the checkbook as I never write checks. That lead to anger at her for having such a cluttered desk (she wasn't there so I didn't go OJ on her or anything!). Anyway, then I was looking through the truck thinking I maybe had one in there for just this reason but couldn't find it. Called my wife but couldn't reach her. She's the one person w/ a cel phone that never seems to answer! Then the coach calls and asks where we are because practice already started. My daughter had earlier disagreed with me about the time to go and she told me the wrong time. She was also acting short and rude to me and I told her that's not right and I felt like her chaufeur most of the time and when I ask how her day's going (like a dad not a chaufeur) she doesn't need to be like that. Then when I raised the big center console between the front seats all the contents were emptied into my back seat and floor. So, I did what any sane person would do under these circumstances; I wound up like an Olympic discus athlete and chucked my briefcase into my truck at a high rate of speed!! Yeah, I kinda lost it. I felt bad for my daughter to see that, but we talked about it on the way over and cleared things up. She wa stressed because she just broke up with her boyfriend of half a year (an eternity to a Freshman in HS) and he goes to the same tennis academy. So, she was dreading seeing him there. I felt bad and told her she should have told me so I could understand how she was acting. Oh, well...life's fun!! Oh, and thanks for letting me vent!! Damn, I guess I needed that!
