  1. DiMarzio virtual P-90, looks like the DLX w/ the 2 rows of screws, sounds really nice and open
  2. this is hysterical, will he ever learn? anyway, no surprises from Joe on gear, i bought a Newport from him , it was straight up and farly priced, whose gonna buy the Ferrari next year? LOL
  3. got it, you've got a reply and thanks!
  4. I've played several gigs w/ your new guitar, I echo your feelings, a very special "middle" tone w/ a nice upper definition, it's an amazing axe, enjoy!
  5. try F#m7b5 for the F/A , really jazzy
  6. don't know the song but that my part of the counrty your viewing in the film, western NC
  7. DR pure blues, Snake Oil Rock, D'Addario XL's, I use all 3 in 10-46. Keep in mind Priest uses very light strings, as light as .007 for KK , most blues guys use at least 10's
  8. I KNEW Bobby Mack was gonna have something to say, I see your points, but I'm in love w/ those guitar parts , BBD has got to be up there though LOL edited to add, I hate the post crash "band" I'm talking about up to '77
  9. Sandy, are ya doing the licks 100% as recorded? I know a Little, That Smell, Sweet Home et al, I've heard many guys rag Skynyrd and not do it right ( not that you don't ) , it's like Smoke on the Water, 9 out of 10 playing it to be funny play it in the wrong key and position
  10. kinda sad and telling that nobody has mentioned Van Halen, they sold alot of records and had a 20 + year run
  11. What, they get bonus points for effort? I'd never rate a retarded, one-dimensional band as #1. And while we're discussing self-destructive Southern Rock bands, I'm surprised no one mentioned the Allman Brothers. Gawd, those guys were/are good. one dimensional maybe but the problem I run into is that IMO Ed King and Steve Gaines ( w/ the exception of Trucks and Herring ) are just better and more creative players than the guys from the Allmans, I know, let a shit storm insue, but Ed King is a god on lead guitar, period, and Gaines was too. I've played all this stuff and the problem is those retards made it sound easy, and it ain't, the Skynrd stuff is MUY hard to do right, the Allmans stuff is not , all my opinion. Having said this, it's still ZZ Top
  12. ZZ Top for as well
  13. that elite is amazing, it really is, also will be high dollar, but if your looking for a gasender, Steve's Monaco elite is it. one thing I find is that a good LP has a quasi-parametric EQ thing going on, one frequency cut so that the ones near it seem pronounced, live Zep has that "quark(thats quack meets bark)" as does most early ZZ Top and Free, the elite is a smoother tone , close to the LP but fuller frequency ( no quark). I've never tried a standard elite but Gwayne has a sweet one that sounded great when we played at low volume, I'm spoiled that I've only really messed w/ Steve's
  14. Rush graduated from HS ( and that's all , like many out there )
  15. CB, you'll note my original music is sans lyrics, theres a reason LOL. I do appreciate your comments, honestly, I think most people are coming from an honest heartfelt place and we have let people who make money off this crap whip it up to a dangerous level
  16. There's a lot of that going around under the guise of dissent. a fine line for sure, I suppose that's why all speech is protected, to hard to seperate , oh let's say porno and art ( I'm firmly on the side of porn LOL )
  17. Come on now. Let's not exploit other board members for the sake of making a point. that's true, my apologies to Jaye
  18. sure it's free speech, just an ugly sentiment that doesnt help our country IMO
  19. True, but when do you get to the point where you realize that you can't (nor perhaps should you) change America into something it's not? How long do you remain in a lousy marriage before you decide that life is too short to be miserable and perhaps it's best to move on? If a place like, say, Canada provides the cultural atmosphere you prefer and you're not getting it in the U.S., why not move there? Could it be that you're not willing to give up the relatively higher comfort level of being an American? Not flamin', just askin'. Edited to add: this should really be on the OC. Devereaux? Care to do something worthwhile for a change? Chris it's funny that your post implies that "I"( meaning liberals ) should move and I wonder why. I am a natural born citizen w/ all the rights afforded to me by our constitution , including the right to try and change our country (all those crazy amendments) should I take Jaye w/ me?
  20. we don't share the same view of America and I wonder where you guys get this (and you wonder about me) but the whole enchilada is based on speaking your unpopular view w/o fear of retribution or being asked to leave
  21. expressing dissent is what got us here as a country, the love it or leave sentiment is tre' unAmerican in my view , love it, talk about it vote on it
  22. I really don't now where to begin, I will admit that I played Freebird in public for money last night ( kicked it's redneck ass too! ) The biggest moron I can think of was very sedate and I'm not sure he ever spoke to me. Back in the 80's I was in a rock cover band doing Ratt and Crue et al, spandex, make up , stacks , and a huge light/pa rig, 8 double 15 sugar scoops on the bottom, insane, anway, there was a little british guy who would get a pitcher of beer and the get inside on of these things and sit, I swear to god he was up in the bass bin w/ his feet sticking out , we played a house job and over the course of the summer he slowly migtated from the bass bin furthest from the stage to the one right next to it, I'd look down and see 2 feet sticking out w/ a pitcher sitting next to em, I'm sure he's deaf today, must be
  23. no kidding, I know this guitar has pissed off several people who were begging for those ( or some of ) specs not a year ago
  24. Steve's right, must be the shape adding something, but they resonate like nobodys business. I played one for several sets and loved it, even gave it a glowing review on the board. Oddly enough I think it sounds fatter and more robust than my old Newport or current Monaco , these things just flat out smoke, but I can't do that shape as my main guitar ( not yet anyway ). IMO the Korina Vector is the best sounding Hamer I've tried and I've tried alot of em courtesy the Phoenix collection combined w/ my forays w/ the brand
