  1. Soundwise you can get close with upgraded pickups, and yes, there are palpable differences in wood quality and craftsmanship, but to me the X factor is the fretwork. Poorly seated, uneven frets can really make a guitar unplayable. If you're gonna incur the additional cost of plekking and refretting, you might as well just pop for the costlier, higher quality instrument.
  2. The detective has his hands full with work that benefits the prosecutor. Frankly, I'm surprised you and Ted even got a dick on the phone at all. The older I get, the more I realize that everything our parents taught us is horseshit.
  3. Returning a stolen computer to its rightful owner is not the sort of thing that'll get a prosecutor re-elected. Not even close to being sexy enough. Oh, and eBay sucks.
  4. What do you clean your Tool to? Nah, don't answer that. I use machinery to clear my driveway, so no music. Trying to drown out the Craftsman would make me even deafer.
  5. Mesa Tremoverb into a 4x12. Seriously.
  6. True. I'd be more interested in the dozens of other ones that are readily available.
  7. Relatively speaking, following PS on Twitter is much less sad than hosting a fucking KISS podcast.
  8. Yeah, if that were a converted 4 string, the string pull on the lower four strings wouldn't be straight. Shame that the logo is gone, but totally cool otherwise!
  9. This is the one that put me out of the challenge: Nice guitar that I seem to be bonding with, but the purchase was driven by compulsion and boredom. I'm hoping it's the last purchase I can say that about, at least for a while.
  10. I'd buy it if the pickup covers were engraved with "of" and "shit."
  11. Yeah, he'll get away with it. Nothing nefarious will be revealed in the inspection.
  12. I'm a cynic, but I'm gonna wisecrack about the fact that the place was in foreclosure. No, nothing suspicious about this at all....

  14. Goddamn it. To paraphrase the cat in my avatar, I'm fucking out.
  15. Yes. I tweaked it a bit with VLC player EQ, but, to be fair, I would like to hear the full, uncompressed track cranked. I like the idea of this band. Lots of talent here, but the mix didn't do Jake any favors. Think I'll buy the cd and see if it sticks on the wall... Yeah, don't expect proper quality from a YouTube clip. Like Rob, I'll probably take a flyer on this when it comes out. Same with the Lynch/Pinnick/Lazier thing.
  16. Just the good stuff. Not that Patron crap.
  17. I'm saying bands like them have already been inducted and will continue be, so it's a waste of energy to object to it. Were people as annoyed when Sam Cooke, a pop crooner and not a rock'n'roll singer, was inducted the very first year? http://rockhall.com/inductees/byyear/1986/ I'd argue that rap artists have more business being in a hall of fame devoted to rock'n'roll, a term that has come to represent a spirit of rebellion, than an utterly non-dangerous Motown act like the Four Tops.
  18. They don't need to do anything. Whoever created the institution can call t whatever they want. On the other hand, people need to realize that the name represents something other than just a genre. They also need to remember that RnR was derived from the predominantly black music forms blues and jazz, and that Chuck Berry and Little Richard were its earliest practitioners.
  19. Dice were rolled, gambles were lost. Vaya con Dios!
  20. There's been a Captain Obvious sighting in Olney.
  21. ^^^ Exactly. No one who's ever gotten what they asked for can say they were ripped off. Nor would I say someone who finds a $1000 Les Paul in their attic and is happy to get $200 for it because it's $200 more than they would have had otherwise was ripped off. Hell, I'll even apply that same scenario to a real '59 flame top. It's not a business owner's responsibility to educate a customer unless they ask to be educated. "Never talk your way out of a sale," incoming or outgoing, is Sales 101.
  22. As it should be. Yet, entitled assholes still take that as a personal affront.
  23. Vastly skewed toward entitled assholery on the part of the customer, in my experience. Not close to a one-to-one ratio.
