Soundwise you can get close with upgraded pickups, and yes, there are palpable differences in wood quality and craftsmanship, but to me the X factor is the fretwork. Poorly seated, uneven frets can really make a guitar unplayable. If you're gonna incur the additional cost of plekking and refretting, you might as well just pop for the costlier, higher quality instrument.

Were people as annoyed when Sam Cooke, a pop crooner and not a rock'n'roll singer, was inducted the very first year? http://rockhall.com/inductees/byyear/1986/ I'd argue that rap artists have more business being in a hall of fame devoted to rock'n'roll, a term that has come to represent a spirit of rebellion, than an utterly non-dangerous Motown act like the Four Tops.

They don't need to do anything. Whoever created the institution can call t whatever they want. On the other hand, people need to realize that the name represents something other than just a genre. They also need to remember that RnR was derived from the predominantly black music forms blues and jazz, and that Chuck Berry and Little Richard were its earliest practitioners.
