  1. draelyc,

I did the upgrade myself and it wasn't too technical.

My biggest concern before taking a deep breath and drilling the two holes was making sure they were reasonably far away from the original holes,  not so close to the side that the pots would touch, fairly even to the f-holes and that, when I was done, they looked "original"....

I built myself a plastic layout board (jig) that I could mount the pots and the switch to for soldering....

The layout was based on the three existing holes in the top.

In other words, after removing the volume and tone knobs, I laid the jig over the shafts of the 2 pots and the switch thus locating the 2 new holes to be drilled.

There was plenty of room through the bridge pickup cavity to feed the harness through....

It actually went smoothly with no big issues.

I would think that, since I had no big issues doing this "mod", any good  guitar tech wouldn't have any problem.

I still have the plastic template if you'd like me to get a copy of it to you....

Being a fan of separate vol and tone controls for each pickup, I have never understood why some builders (Hamer & PRS amongst others) give you only one vol and tone pot for two pickups.....

I really like the way it turned out.....

    Tim.

That sounds awesome!  And yes, I'd definitely be interested in the template, if there's a way to share it.  I don't mind the single volume control on my Mirage, since it's laid out more like a Strat anyway.  But I love the two vol. controls on my Studio and was a bit surprised that the otherwise very traditional hollowbody Newport just had the single controls. 🤷‍♀️

Sorry it took me a while to write back ~ didn't see the notification.

      Thanks!

      Christopher
