  1. That is cool - Thank you for your service. I'm behind you guys 110%
  2. That is scary news. Keep thinking positive, and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
  3. Did you use Luther and Jeff from Metro? We're using them a lot. My drummer's snare is SO loud that it's often not in the p.a. Yep. Luther I remember at least; I'd probably remember Jeff if I saw him. They were using someone else when I joined but switched to Metro shortly thereafter. I'll never forget them bringing 22,000 watts to the first gig they did for us. It was an outdoor gig, and Dan's drum sound check was setting off car alarms - LOL.
  4. When I was gigging I aways used my Mesa Bass 400+ with Ampeg 4x10 and 1x18. It was brutal. In smaller clubs, the sound guys would sometimes ask me to turn down because they "couldn't get me in the mix". Craig always said "F*** 'em - CRANK IT UP!" The again, he generally brought 4 Marshall cabs, even if he wasn't running them all...
  5. Please tell me this is weather related or some other fluke. I've waited 24 years for this and I have floor seats in Columbus in just over a month... If the tour is falling apart, I will be beyond disappointed. I assume they didn't sell out. Nice venue, but small area population. Tickets were still available yesterday. It's supposedly "postponed", and they will hopefully be coming at a later date. There was ice in the weather forecast, which may be the reason for the sudden postponement. (No ice so far, but ice pretty much shuts things down here in Charlottesville. It looks like Duluth GA was postponed too. Hopefully it's a temporary thing. I hear what you're saying about the ice - I was in Petersburg one time when they got a couple inches of snow. It shut the entire town down...

  7. That was the first show I have been to in more than five years, and it was definitely a disappointment. About halfway through it, I realized I have all the stuff I need - and cooler stuff at that - waiting at home. It would have been nice to find a minty P-Bass, but there weren't even many of those (at least that weren't imports). I saw four USA Hamers, and none of them tripped my trigger (the Vector, a Scarab, a shredder (can't remember which model) and an early Special. No Hamer basses. The bootleg video guy wasn't even there - and that's half the reason I went. When did they stop attending?
  8. Happy Belated Birthday!
  9. Happy Birthday!
  10. Happy Birthday, guys!
  11. Hppy Birthday, Ted!
  12. Happy Birthday, Mike!
  13. +1000. Beat me to it. Definitely one of the most intense sides ever put on vinyl; the solo on Rock Bottom can still make the hair on my arms stand up.
  14. RIP, Guys http://youtube.com/watch?v=rgTlixgeF4k
  15. My condolences to you and your family.
  16. You are correct, it seems like the purpose of the OC has evolved... It was my understanding when it was established that it WAS for the political arguments and nudity - stuff that might be "offensive" to some members (or non-members who might stop by and wrongly think that the views on the board represented those of Hamer). Ironically, I've noticed some people lately getting put out by political discussions on the OC - guess we need an Outer Outer Circle
  17. Death, followed by my hair thinning.
  18. I'm fucking DYING here...
  19. I think the people you are referring to prefer to be called "Huffer-Americans".
  20. Actually it was your post and Straightblue's post that reminded me of that story. You are correct bobbymack - and what's even sadder than chasing the almighty dollar at the expense of everything that should be important to them, is chasing it because they are struggling to just keep up with the interest payments on their big screen tvs and onion petals they ate 3 years ago... I am absolutely convinced that a scary number of people in this country are so up to their asses and eyeballs in debt they will never be "free". The hard part is having to explain to our 11 year old son that his friends who live in $500,000 houses maybe don't see their parents much because they're working all the time, or they're struggling to make ends meet paying for that house and the lease on their H2. Don't get me wrong - we have some nice stuff, and we too are very fortunate; but we have also been able to show some discipline and keep sight of what's important (as hard as that is at times)...
  21. I first read this some time ago, and it's kind of stuck with me: An American businessman stood at the pier of a small coastal village in Mexico, when a small boat carrying a lone Mexican fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellowfin tuna. The American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The fisherman replied, “Only a little while.” The American then asked, “If it took only a little while to catch these fine fish, why didn't you stay out longer and catch more fish?” The fisherman explained that this catch was enough to support his family's immediate needs. The American then asked, “But what do you do with the rest of your time?” The fisherman replied, “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take a siesta with my wife, and stroll into the village each evening, where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos. I have a full and busy life, señor.” The American scoffed, “I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds buy a bigger boat. With the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats. Eventually, you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing, and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then L.A., and eventually New York City, where you would run your expanding enterprise.” The fisherman asked, “But señor, how long will this all take?” The American replied, “Fifteen to twenty years.” “But what then, señor?” inquired the Mexican. The American laughed and said, “That's the best part. When the time is right, you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You would make millions.” “Millions, señor? Then what?” asked the Mexican. The American said, “Why, then you would retire, of course—move to a small coastal fishing village where you could sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take a siesta with your wife, and stroll into the village in the evenings, where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos.”
  22. Happy Birthday, guys!
  23. Sound guys LOVED me: "uh, can you turn down a little bit? - we're having a hard time getting you in the mix". Tonedaddy: "What did he ask you?" Me: "He asked me to turn down a little" Tonedaddy: F*ck him, turn it up!" Our sound guys loved us, period. Running a Mesa Bass 400+ on "2" is like buying a Ferrari and driving it at 15mph all the time...
  24. Personally I always played mine with the neck pickup wide open and the bridge pickup maybe 3/4 of the way up. The neck pickup helped the lower end response a lot. I tried using just (or mostly) the bridge pickup but it was way too thin and trebley for my taste. Plus I always played through a Mesa Bass 400+ into an Ampeg 4x10 and an Ampeg 1x18, so I never had any trouble with the low end
  25. He sucks shit through a straw. I can't change the radio station fast enough when one of his "songs" comes on.
