  1. thanks for the comments guys... that flametop eclipse was pretty cool. It was listed on the Daddy's website as flametop eclipse and since Daddy's screws up the descriptions about 50% of the time, I just assumed it was a typo... It played great, it cut through the mix like a razor but it weighed about 20 lbs... I was told they made a handful of them. I got the koa FM special here from the original owner. I seem to recall that the the store custom ordered it in koa and he bought it from them that way. The thing was beautiful but since I was putting a down payment on a condo around two years ago, I ebayed it oh well... BTW: MikeC's FM special listed above is quite the specimen. It looks to me like they used an ultimate grade top for it.. I don't think you'll find one like that on ebay...
  2. Hi, click on the link to see a few nice FM's... (once there, click on photo album on the right) Hamers I've stupidly sold
  3. I'd get the Too Hot To Handle UFO Story... Thanks for the tip!!! I just snagged one on ebay for $12 delivered... There's another one still left BTW...
  4. hey I need to find a UFO dvd that has old school footage, does this have any or can anyone recommend something else??? Pete Way was my idol and I had a 76 T bird and tied two straps together so I could sling it low. I couldn't play worth a damn like that but it looked cool...
  5. I was gonna guess Johnny Knoxville...
  6. I don't know what it's called but it's the one during the slow part of Weezer's Undone (sweater song)...
  7. I'm thinking... Over the years Hamer has given me at least $500 worth of free swag, including the nielsen guitars of the stars which I think is worth maybe $100 and a COOL leather jacket which I won as a door prize. I've also had about six free lunches and got to pretty much walk around the factory and ask them questions like "did you fix Micheal Schenker's flying V because he smashed it while on a drunken bender???" On the first HFC, I had one of the guys spend a half hour w/me picking wood which they turned into a completed guitar within 5 weeks and I paid about 40% off list... what has gibson or Fender ever done for me??? never mind that, what has Blockbuster Video or Verizon wireless ever done for me?? I'm not going to bash them because they wanted to take a year off...
  8. I watched that show for the first time. It's like a BAD CAR ACCIDENT that you can't help but watch. What was with the voting, I cannot believe Irene Cara won last night. Out of all the performers she sounded the worst, including the fact that she was outperformed by her OWN backup singers.
  9. I use USPS global express and have shipped maybe 5 guitars. (Italy, Sweden, Netherlands, France, and England). Each cost me approx $120 to $130 insured. They have tracking which is ok but isn't as detailed as UPS or fedex. In each case the guy got it about a week or less and was pretty happy. BTW: I pack them like a mother and use guitar boxes that I buy from U-line that are exactly the size of USPS length vs girth requirements. They're nice strong boxes and they're big enough to allow for extra packing and or double boxing. They cost about $7.00 each delivered which for me, was worth the cost of not having to drive around and dumpster dive/grovel for boxes.
  10. I would have to say the first Motley Crue album Some of that stuff like Merry Go round and too fast for love is really CHEEZY but I'm somehow attracted to it like a bad car accident... I used to play in a punk band and in the mid 80's it wasn't as cool to like both punk and metal so I had to hide the fact that I really liked that album. I also really liked that Bon jovi song, it's my life... not really into Bon Jovi but that's a good tune...
  11. Demented, Raging Slab was pretty good and do you mean 10 Star General from Boston? I know those guys, part of that band is from Left Nut who are one of my favorite Boston bands ever. They were awesome and feared no one. the guitarist Barry is incredible. If you liked 10 star you'd love Left Nut... BTW: DaveH and Saxon, I totally agree on Riot, why they never hit it with Fire Down Under is beyond me. Don't get me wrong, I liked Rhett Forrester (RIP) but not sure why they canned Guy Speranza which in retrospect seemed like a big mistake...
  12. Great idea bringing this back Ted! Here's my faves... UFO and Thin Lizzy should have been household names in america, why they weren't I don't know... D Generation: 90's NY band, dolls/deadboys meets hard rock, very well done, 2nd album produced by Ric Ocasek which I loved... Circus of Power: another excellent 90's NY band their first albums completely ROCKS... Sloppy Seconds: a really good punk pop band from Indiana. Their "Destroyed" album is one of my fave albums ever. Kix: I always thought Kix should have been huge but they always confused the hell out of me. Their first album was a killer fun rock and roll album and then did cool kids, which was kind of new wave-ish... and the next album sounded like ratt and then the next one sounded like motley crue, yet at the same time, they always had this AC-DC obsession... still a kickass live band...
  13. I voted no because I thought it looked pretty cool, the triangles are a little goofy but it isn't so dated looking like a zebra scarab (which I know some people here LOVE) but for me I just couldn't play it. That said, if the finish around the fretboard is now all funky you might consider a refin if it helps the improve the finish around the fretboard and, is a better color you like. I'd only do that once I know the truss repair is sound, and even then I wouldn't do it expecting a return on investment.
  14. I feel exactly the same way, I always felt goofy about having to bump my own ads, half the time I just said screw it and threw it on ebay... I've also noticed, and maybe I'm imagining it, but since this place is specifically for "for sale" ads that nobody yaps about someone placing for sale ads when they don't contribute all that much. Me, I don't care who posts for sale because you never know, some newbie may have something REALLY COOL and then they'll probably stick around any way.
  15. If it hasn't been mentioned already... Guitar Player just put out a special issue on PRS featuring, the early days, rare factory pics, interviews etc. Even if you aren't a fan it's really good read. Barnes and Noble for one has them...
  16. I really liked it but I have a few humbucker equipped axes already, if someone wants to check it out or transfer it to their local Daddy's feel free... Dave
  17. Hi, I saw one of these yesterday at Daddy's Salem NH. It was a '93 natural mahogany with the duncan JB and 59 combo. It was pretty clean but had a mark on the face behind the bridge. nice neck, not skinny... Price was ok at $599, and although I didn't plug it in it kinda had the vibe that with a nice setup and fresh strings that it would rip somebody's face off... not literally because that would be freaky but you know what I mean...
