That is slick as snot! Same color, too. What is the brand?

No. That would be, "who's yer little buddy", when you decide to move the Plex, guvnor. Little Buddy = RobB!

Who's yer little buddy??

Good to hear. I was all set to buy one of those expensive, 2-in-1 Italian Univibe clones. For $125, the LP was a shoo-in.

Sunday afternoon rockin’. This LP really showcases what a killer guitarist Andy Scott is. A very solid ensemble player but can rip when needed.

Thanks, Jason! Got one in the breech. Now the waiting begins.

That's interesting. There were plenty of MV amps out at that time (JMPs, Boogie, et al). I imagine Edward probably played through many JMPs. I can only speculate that stock MVs didn't float his boat. Easy enough to install a PPIMV in a plexi. Maybe it didn't have the sound he liked? The above video link is very educational. Dave, when asked about the EVH sound said, "pretty much a stock plexi." I don't think there's any magic in the circuit.

Has anybody used a Vibronaut? I’m looking for a trippy, OD sound ala Earthless/Trower.

They are mirror image arrays. Left: Right: As far as the year, I didn’t ask the guy. I’m thinking 80’s, due to the relatively primitive, push-button speaker terminals. I listened to about 10 lps/cds yesterday. Everything from Miles to Entombed. The mid/treble knobs work as they should, woofer surrounds are tight and right. They took some getting used to, as the bass response has a different curve than the Cerwin 217r pair. The Vegas are HUGE, with 15” woofers and big, deep cabinets. Alas, time has taken its toll, as the L-pads are shot. I was going to Craigslist them, but I can’t even get local repair techs to take them for spare parts. Off to Goodwill for a $300 donation tax deduction. They make great speaker stands for the JBLs, though. ETA: I met the Craigslist seller in a Starbucks parking lot in Livermore. He pulls up in an older Toyota minivan. Inside, he has a power strip, hooked up to a 12 V system. Plugged in were a Carver power amp, Neumark cd player and the speakers! I isolated each speaker and checked the crossovers. Cranked it up loud to listen to the woofers. It all checked out! Best eight bills I’ve spent in a long time.

Got these today off Craigslist. These are the same as L100s, but with different grilles and crossover controls mounted on the front baffles. They are in great shape and sound great. Now I have to schlep my 80lb Cerwins to Goodwill. And what else does an erstwhile soundman use to ring out a system? Yep, you guessed it:

Vai is the deal-breaker for this one. Pass. ETA: Kenny Aranoff/Marco Mendoza are a thunderous rhythm section. Hmmmm…I may have to reconsider.

You need to hit the front end with a tube screamer.

Not to worry. I would never compare a band I fukking hate with a group of relative merit, like The Band. And don’t ever use, “Hey now”, again. Iko-Iko don’t like it!

I’m working dozens of conventions in SF this year. Why in the hell would I ever go to one in my free time?

MXR Rockman pedal video review, with Cali appearance
RobB replied to Jimbilly's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
That’s right. The X-100 was a very important to me in my formative practice years. I’d use the headphone out of my stereo into the Rockman to mix the music/guitar and hit the front with an original TS9. It was a great way to transcribe songs. It seems so primitive now but it worked well. -

Sounds like an X-100. A safe and generic ZZTop tone. Makes you wonder why they didn’t include the echo/reverb.
