  1. If I compare my guitars I would say the 78 Sunburst ist on the brighter side and delivers very shiny, sparkling harmonics. If you are searching for a guitar that can do all the fine nuances - an old Sunburst is the one. My friend owns a 80 Sunburst that seems louder but the sound and feel is comparable. It does not sound like a LP in my opinion. If you are searching for a LP-ish rock machine you should go for a Special FM or a Special Korina Jr. My 93 Sunburst is way different sounding than the 78. Fat is the word that describes it best. There are so many differences as bridge, maple cap, pickups so that I would say they are completely different guitars with the same name on the headstock. So I think these guitars share the same shape but every model could be your main guitar in your particular style of music. And this is imho the connection between the most Hamer US guitars - they are made to be main guitars and you (theoretically) need only one guitar
  2. I own Sunburst 8 0574. Seems to be a late one too. She is equipped with the sustain block and not with the shimmed bridge.
  3. My daughter likes the 80s stuff.
  4. Here is a video from Mike Burn that demonstrates this very well. He is or was a member too. Aaahhh, no its an Bill Lawrence and I cannot delete the post. But you can still enjoy the Sunburst demo.
  5. My friend plays this lightning sky model with Floyd Rose. It is a RR1 if there is "Made in U.S.A." under the "Jackson" on the headstock. Serial should start with O or U.
  6. If you can live with a modern sound (lacking of warmth in my opinion) then go for it. These guitars play phenomenal and are lightweights. The ones that I heard had very good (Strat-ish) sounding neck pups. You could listen to a master and endorser of this guitar in the band Scar Symmetry.
  7. I totally agree with the to much bling thing!
  8. Never seen a Chaparral with crowned board. Was it a custom option? The shop is a former Hamer Dealer. Talked to the owner last year and he could tell so much interesting stories about the 70s/80s, the brands and the musicians that stopped by (Scorpions etc.) it was just amazing. Later I found out he is a well known german icon for vintage guitars. If you are in Hamburg I recommend to check out the shop "No 1 Guitars" especially the vintage and custom floor. 9. As usual no affiliation. I dig this wild top and the price seems fair. Hamer Studio 1997 - Natural https://reverb.com/item/86044662?utm_source=android-app&utm_medium=android-share&utm_campaign=listing&utm_content=86044662
  10. 85 Scepter on the left, 82 Standard on the right equals 83,5 right?
  11. Ok. A Californian without everything what makes a Californian.
  12. I wish you all the best for your surgery.
  13. The Chorus in my Eventide H3000 is thick and round and rich. The best Chorus IMHO.
