    Sen is actually a native Japanese wood. It's primary use for musical instruments is in the construction of Taiko drums. Ibanez "Korinas" from the 70s, the rather popular Aria SB series basses from the early 80s, and quite a few of the "Ash" MIJ Fender guitars & basses from the 80s & 90s were made of Sen.
