!!! Jackson Soloist vs. Hamer Californian !!!
jettster replied to Feynman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
interesting to see that Jackson outpaced Hamer, on a Hamer board no less. I have the same problem with both Jackson and EBMM guitars. They both seem like well made guitars but I can't stand the neck profiles on either and I've played quite a few examples of both. -
Have you guys seen Zen's amazing new video?

Outstanding work in all respects!! I can't even imagine how much work went into that but the end result speaks for itself. Awesome!!! -

The Goonch - My CD is finally done and available.

Congrats!! Putting out a CD and doing most of it yourself is a ton of work. -
I use Elixir Nano .9's on all my Floyd guitars and .10's on everything else. (T51, Artist, G&L Legacy) For Acoustic I like Martin SP custom lights. Martin strings for Martin guitars... Tuning wise I stick with 440 95% of the time, on rare occasions drop D. (Years ago I did used to do the half step down thing.)

The Queensryche saga -long read, but it's worth reading.

That's the first time I've heard someone I agree with about QR on Empire. (had a few good tunes) My favorites were Rage for order and The warning and of course MC. Will reserve judgment on the new stuff when I hear the whole thing, it's definitely a step in the right direction though. -

New material with new singer.. Some recent live stuff with the new guy. -
I actually enjoyed the Di Meola clip above, no big surprise though since my musical tastes tend to be far from conventional. Oddly enough the only major disappointment I can remember was a Gary Moore disc "Blues for Greeny". Odd because I have quite a few of his disc's and am usually a big fan but I hated that one and ended up giving it away after the first listen.

So are you saying that if someone said your girfriend was a hairy dude you wouldn't say anything about it? Yeah standing up for your better half qualifies as being a dick I'm sure. It's fine to personally attack someone but when they stand up for themselves they are a penis... Nice!!! -

You asked insultingly, I might add, if that was my girlfriend. I simply stated that if you wanted to compare girlfriends/ wife’s, you could post a picture of yours and I would gladly post a picture of mine for comparisons sake. Same goes for guitar playing, feel free to post some audio or video of you playing and I will do the same for comparisons sake. As the saying goes put up or shut up, or you could always come back with some disparaging comment to mask your inability to back up your comments. -

Pot Meet kettle oops, edited to add and "it's all good" I stand by my original statement, if this was a guy playing the exact same thing or just audio, without video, it never would have been posted here. It's only because it is a girl playing that it was posted. If I'm not mistaken this same video was posted a while back and we went through this same conversation, difference was, the last time most agreed that it would have been much less impressive if it was a guy playing. Same senario goes for a young kid playing guitar, what is impressive for a young kid to be playing becomes less so as an adult. -

Actually I'd be glad to put my girlfriend or playing against yours.... Just say when. I'm guessing you fall into the same category as most others who bad mouth a certain style of playing. "Couldn't play it even if you wanted to so you write it off as lack of soul or something else." It's all good. -

Yeah but can she do this? My guess is that if it was a guy playing the same exact thing it would be passed off as mediocre at best. -
Rawk!! Gotta make it up there sooner or later to check you guys out.

I used to be one of the biggest Kiss fans evah (in my early teenage years). I was even in the audience for the concert footage of Kiss meets the phantom at Magic Mountain. That was my first concert and it made a huge impression never to be forgotten, singed hair and all. Still to this day one of the best shows I've been to. (Show wise) When the Kissology DVD's came out I thought I'd re-live some of the good old days but couldn't get through very much of it. Reminded me of why I hadn’t listened to them in so long. They definitely had the show part down but I don't know that anything they have ever done could be classified as great musicianship. Catchy songs yes, musicianship, not so much. Time and age have definitely changed perspective in my case.

Been following this for a while, love everything through Mindcrime, Empire is alright but I could care less about anything after that. We saw them earlier this year at a small venue and aside from the notes that Tate has dodged for more than a decade (or two) they sounded pretty good. As far as Tate goes, I think 3:58 into this video pretty much confirms he is not necessarily the best band mate. I'd go so far to say that he deserves an ass beating but, seems the other guys are scared of him, best I can tell. -
Jay, you still rockin the Budda? My T-51 sounds really good through mine, hell it sounds good through anything for that matter.
-
Everything about it sounds great!! Killer song, really nice laid back vibe and tones are sweet too. Listened to it several times in a row if that's any indication. Are those single coils being used? What are you playing through?

Let's see, I currently have a POD XT, Vox Tonelab, POD HD500 and an ADA MP1 rack setup. I know plenty of people that can get decent tones out of the previously mentioned gear but, I don’t like having to tweak for hours on end. Beyond being frustrating, it takes away from my limited amount of playing time. After the AxeFxII I'm pretty much getting rid of everything including most of my tube amps. None of the others come close and I can dial in a killer tone in a matter seconds, so easily in fact the only preset I have stored is for recording Bass giutar. It is without a doubt the most astounding piece of gear I've ever purchased. (Still in disbelief after using it for three months+). I have never wanted to play as much as I do now. My 14 year old nephew came over last night and after five minutes was dialing in tones that he fell in love with, he ended up playing for three hours. He has an Orange TH30 half stack.
