Whats the Last 5 Albums you've bought?

Whitesnake - Forevermore Journey - Eclipse Sister Sin - Sound of the underground Pagans Mind - Heavenly Ecstacy Darkwater - Where stories end -
I've been spinning this for a few weeks now and have to say IMO that as a whole, it compares well with anything they have ever done, past or present. The last one was pretty damn good but, this one is much better. Sure Coverdale has a diminished range but for the most part stays well within his capabilities on this one. Even so, I think he still sounds great and every song on here here is strong. Everyone I know that has heard it has had similar things to say, strong from start to finish. Unlike some of the older material, I don't find myself skipping over any tunes on this one.

Putting HAMER back on the metal map
jettster replied to kevinbower1959's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I've spun this video several times since you gave us an early preview a few weeks back. Sounds classic but not dated. Top notch work all the way around and tight as .. HELL! Best of luck to you guys, hope the new disk does well. -
From what I remember with a few exceptions, most around here don't care for them. I have a Cali with them and it sounds pretty damn good through my Orange Rocker but hit and miss through my other amps. They seem to excel for high gain and the single coil does pretty well for that clean chorusy 80’s type of thing. There are some pro's that get some nice tone out of them, Steve Lukather and Buck Dharma come to mind.

I'm a huge Reb fan, love the stuff he did with Winger and even have a solo CD of his. He also did a great job filling in with Dokken. Problem is he takes a back seat to Doug for many reasons already mentioned in this thread. Doug is just a perfect fit for this band and it's most likely that anyone else no matter how good would take a back seat with him around. The Dio DVD with Doug is also stellar, I'm pretty sure he only had a short notice to fill in for Goldy. High centered and Electrovision also feature some top notch guitar playing, I didn't know he was from NC too. Edited to add: I could give two shits about someone’s personal appearance, I'm much more concerned with the songs, singing and musicianship. That stuff is much more important to me than anything else although I'm probably in the minority here and elsewhere. Otherwise Brittany wouldn’t be so popular. BTW David is 59 so he ain’t no spring chicken but, he is still trying to Rock out with a killer group of musicians.

I know there are some mixed feelings around here about Whitesnake but, the new stuff sounds pretty good to me. I like most all their stuff old or new, also enjoyed the last release in 08'. Melodic Rock has samples of all songs from the upcoming release. Song samples Full tune video Doug Aldrich just rips!!

You should be able to get a used Budda Superdrive 18 combo under a grand. Plenty of volume and versatility, sounds great with any guitar or pedals. I played a Blackstar HT STUDIO 20 a couple of weeks back and was pretty impressed for the money. Once back home, I had to fire up the Budda (since it had been a couple of weeks) my urge for the Blackstar went away immediately.

Thanks guys!!!!!! I really appreciate it. I worked a lot harder and spent more time on this than anything previously. It was also a new approach melodically, in that I have not messed around with diminished / Harmonic minor type playing except for the last few months. Thanks again for taking the time to check it out and for all the cool comments, really means a lot!! Nathan – I didn’t make download available just so it wouldn’t be used for anything without my knowledge, but I will enable it for today if you or anyone else here cares to download it. Steve – tour…. I might make a good roadie. Z – Thanks for the detailed review and round of applause. haha I fought with the production more than anything else, that is a whole nother art in and of itself. I’ve been mixing for a long time but feel I have a long, long way still to go. Mucho appreciated dude.

I've been working on this one for a while now and figured I would post the finished version. Played all guitars, bass, keys and even played some of the drums (on pads) live. Guitar wise, I used a Cali, Centuara and G&L S-500. Tunage

Avant Garde Guitarist Part 2...

Someone buy that guy a tuner, shouldn't take a minute and a half to tune your guitar up. Let alone, why would you even make a video of you tuning your guitar. -
most challenging gig of my life last night...........
jettster replied to harry65's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
That would be stressfull enough in a studio environment, let alone a live one. Sounds like you guys pulled it off, good stuff!! -
I use Norton 4-1/2 in. x 5-1/2 in. Extra-Fine General Purpose Synthetic Steel Wool from Home Depot. Still have to tape off the fretboard and there is a little dust but, it doesn't seem to be atracted to the pickups like the real stuff.

Hang in there dude, here's to a speedy recovery!!

First and foremost, I'm glad to see anyone who inspires a new generation to play and listen to guitar based music. That being said (you knew it was coming...) it seems to me that Vai was holding back BIG time. I wonder if there would have been near as much buzz had she been around say 25 or so years back?? Seems to me it takes a lot less skill to impress joe public than it did back in the days of excess. Jennifer Batten she is not...

So - How Much *Should* a Custom Hamer Cost?
jettster replied to veatch's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I'm thinking 10k for a dot/bolt neck Cali sounds about right, of course that is before the upcharge for the Floyd. -
Suhr's coming out with a setneck Modern as well (this winter NAMM from what I understand) and it's going to be expensive as hell! Anyone that would expect Hamer to build a similar guitar for less is dreaming. -Austin I would fully expect a new production set neck Californian to cost more than a bolt-neck Suhr. My point was that the realistic cost for either, should be similar. I highly doubt a Suhr setneck Modern will command anywhere near 10k and it's just as outlandish to think that a Californian should either. As to who is dreaming, you need not look any further than the resale values to see that Hamer guitars have been overpriced for quite sometime now.
-
So is the price that high because of cost of labor and materials, or is it set that high to discourage orders? Exactly... Guitar This would be less than half of that and in a similar league quality wise. Why would a Californian cost more than an Improv unless to discourage orders?

Nice catchy tunes, good vocals and ripping guitar.

Sights and sounds of my Monaco SuperPro in action
jettster replied to MCChris's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Sounds good. Always liked the looks and tone of a single cut but never could go back due to the ergonomics. (My first electric was an LP copy) -
Viv was a tastefull player long before joining Def (Which I also think is a huge waste of his talent). Some of my favorite stuff from VC, killer CD if you don't have it. Riverdogs Another
