  1. Listening to Rush (Limbaugh), and he had this on when coming out of a break - so of course I had to dig it out myself. One of those songs that made me go WOW! when it first came out, at age 12, and it still works for me now.
  2. This is cool, I love stories like this! I wouldn't even realize how cool, if it weren't for reuniting with the love of my life, that I met in 1983...but lost, due to the events explained in my earlier entry in this thread.
  3. David - Trust me, though I know it may sound like it, that was not meant to be bragging. I was not better at it than a lot of guys I worked with, in fact I learned a lot from other guys I worked with, who were older and had been around the block. I couldn't believe how easy it was, and the lines some of these guys got away with. When I started, I was asking for dates, these guys were asking for nothing but 'take me home'. It didn't take long for me to catch on. Yeah, I had fun, but we all did. When I saw this movie, I fell in love with this scene - every word Michael Douglas' character says here is true, especially the line about 'any guy with a Johnson has got a shot, because cool comes from the inside' - I saw some guys who really weren't good looking, walk out with scrumptious looking babes back in those days.
  4. Yeah, seeing this video yesterday in serials new Schecter "Townshend" guitar thread Now I had a great time in the '80's, I know that because I don't remember a lot of it. The '80's covered me from my junior year in college, thru the age of 31, all of it, save for about 6 horrible months in the car business, working in the Nightclub biz. More gorgeous women than I could shake my stick at, fun all the time, making (compared to any of my conventionally employed buddies) way too much cash (most of it really was cash!), blowing all of it on going out, cars, motorcycles, season seats at Wrigley Field. Going to sleep at 6AM, waking up feeling "fuzzy" most afternoons, then starting it all over again. Let me tell ya boys, there's nothing quite so much fun as having every waittress in the place knowing which one of them you were banging that week, or the night before, or whenever. Talk about your occassionally uncomfortable work environments! You'd just hope that the chicks who were customers, that you were trying to land, didn't have a link to any of the girls you worked with. The movie 'Cocktail' didn't begin to cover what it was like. Anyway, back to the point. So I watch the video, (Absolutely no offense to you Rich - -you guys sounded good, and looked like you were having fun), but it was like seeing that time for the first time. Gawd, I kinda remember music like that. I think I can recall clothes like that. Did we all dress that way? I remember the '70's so much better, and we looked so much cooler, and the music was better. I guess movies about the '80's aren't really exaggerating. Sadly, I think I may still have a pair of parachute pants that have been tucked away in a box somewhere, since 1985. Anyone know the number for the '80's? I wanna call and demand an apology!
  5. I'm not buying! You caught her with another guy or you gotta be holdin' something else over her head. I've got a few buddies who make HUGE money, and even they would be takin' crap for bringing all this stuff home. GLWTSs
  6. Seeing as this was a sincere, heartfelt post, AND, since some people here don't always get that I'm usually trying to throw out something that will elicit a laugh, someone please let me know when an appropriate amount of time has gone by, so I can release the joke that's been eating me up since I first read this part of Mikes' post. Caution! - It has something to do with being in your teens / early 20's, and waking up the morning after a date.
  7. WOW! Going back in that thread a few posts tells me that I got to the HFC a couple years too late. Or maybe not.
  8. No reason to feel conflicted - it was your brothers, and it seems that as far as you're concerned, it still is, you're just maintaining stewardship of it. More people should have this type of reverence, in my opinion. I have the two watches my father prized, and his beloved cameras/lenses/stuff, and have for the nearly 25 years he's been gone, despite the fact that I've never worn a watch, and am not a photo enthusiast. It never entered my mind to sell them, even at times that I could have used the large amount of money that they would have brought in I don't see that changing, and have no conflicts with it.
  9. Well, like someone said some time back in another post about these, why not make them, now that Hamer isn't?
  10. Nope! I just looked at the list and said; "Butter, Purple, Hall & Oates, Linda & Link". Butterfield would be my pick if I could only take one.
  11. There, fixed that for you. There is no excuse for being a thief, don't give them one!
  12. Here's the answer for your saddles http://www.detempleguitars.com/temp/CATALOG_ITEMS/saddles.php
  13. Hamer-onica? Hamer-nica? Hamer-ica? Thanks for asking this, I've been kicking around learning too, and hadn't thought to ask here.
  14. ^^^ Over / Under on the "Monaco III Timer" is 55 days (based on the 54 day stay of the Axis)
  15. You should LOVE those HD Z-90's, PM me if not.
  16. I don't know what everything is that you've got there, but I see no; Ethos Overdrive Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret OKKO Diablo Mad Professor 1 ProCo Rat Looks like you've got some work to do to me, Mister! (not suggesting you need all of these, but none?)
  17. Haven't thought about this album in waaay to long. Should be required listening for anyone who picks up an electric guitar in my opinion "Marching Powder" alone is worth the price of admission, the perfect Friday afternoon song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_t5xuI8oXs
  18. Congrats, nice description on the amp, and Frank is one of the best people you can deal with.
  19. First 2 choices are both great, but it's one of these 5. You choose which. www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0YrXjeRSoE www.youtube.com/watch?v=vO9rkumtdho
  20. You guys need to stop drinkin' this early in the day!
  21. Your question brings to mind a phrase from some band from the sixties; I have to admit I'M getting better, a little better all the time (I can't get no worse!)
  22. I've been on a 2 day jag with these albums, and I'm not tired of it yet. Too long since I've had them on. First up, local band that never got as big as they should have. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aHCp8TK_Tw This is the title track, but most of the cuts are on youtube. There is also some footage from a killer live show they did in '78, at the Agora theatre in Cleveland, which I've included a link to. Does anyone know if David Angels bass in the live clip was a Hamer? I don't think it was, but I wasn't a 'Hamer guy' until about a year later in '79, so I wouldn't have known at the time. He also played a bass with LED's on the fretboard a couple of years later, after 'The Boyzz' broke up, and morphed into 'The B'zz'. These guys were big in the Chicago area for a couple of years, so I'm thinking it's possible. Next up is my fav track from a great album, by an under appreciated band. Perhaps not so oddly, this popped into my head after listening to The Boyzz album, because they covered it in their live shows prior to getting signed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8w4RrO0ZlNA
  23. Is that part of the final setup process now? How far back does it go? Do I have to consider selling my 70's, 80's, 90's Hamers? Is my '03 safe to touch again?
  24. Nice to see that the kid that plays 'Jake' on 'Two and a Half Men' has found another job. Yeah - that's my son. Sorry, but I don't see the resemblance. Hey - no offense meant. Saw some resemblance and went for a laugh (cue Rodney Dangerfield from Caddy Shack, "Oh, nice boy, wonderful boy, yeah, he's a good boy") Guess I should have gone with my second thought on a line for this picture. To wit; Why do I think of 'Billion Dollar Babies' , when I look at this picture? Oh yeah, "I'm so scared your little head will come off in my hands"
