The Artist Now Known as Dickhead
earachemyeye replied to Thundernotes's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I met and talked to Jellybean a couple of times. Once at a GC in Roseville - he was trying out a wah pedal playing some cool blues tunes. I had no idea who he was until he introduced himself after I chatted with him. He invited me to an open jam at Bunkers. He was very cordial and unassuming. Not an ass whatsoever. The second time I ran into him at an arcade by my moms house. I was suprised to find out he lived nearby. He had a Mint Condition hat on and told me he was working on them as a new project and thought they would turn into something good. Again a really nice conversation about music and our mutual connection to it. No BS. Last I heard years ago he was scooping up Buddy Guy sig Strat models from the local store and chatting them up in the process. I had to chuckle to myself when I heard that. Maybe our paths will cross again. I'd enjoy that. -

I agree, 3 mill is not alot to start with if you have to move and start over. You could probably find the necessary machines to get production going for a good price used. The business plan would have to be determined by how they are produced I would guess. The guitars made have to fit the current trends so which models would do that? Which guitar oriented genre has the biggest target to aim current models at? Cross over country gets my vote too.

One for the giggers - backup plan
earachemyeye replied to carfish7's question in Ask the HFC Experts
Shred has a power block that he totes instead of an amp. Not a bad sounding unit at all with his pedals. Gets my vote. I've got the Pod500HD which I run in 4 cable mode. I'm using it mainly for the effects but it has some pretty good amp sims too. I do use the Rectifier sim through my amps power section. It's killer. If things did go south, I could plug into the PA but I would have to program a bunch of sims just for that ( different output settings ect.). You probably could use the same sims for recording also. It's on my list of things to do which brings me to a point that has to be made about the Pod. It's a time consuming piece of gear with tons of options and settings to meddle and tinker with. Right up my alley. YMMV. -

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Bill. Also hoping you have a speedy recovery. A poor fella just north of me had an accident last year with his saw while cutting down a tree. He had a chain attached to his suv and to the branch he was cutting. They started pulling to soon and the chain snapped and came back hitting the chain saw he was holding. It exploded and set him on fire. He then fell out of the tree to the ground. Luckily his family was there and put him out but he suffered 3rd degree burns all over. Scary stuff. I think I'll leave mine alone for awhile. Good that you can play guitar though. Woodshed time maybe?

Yep doesn't matter.
-
HA! I knew that would get you going. Dude your hair ain't poofy like that. At least not the last time I saw it. It's not poofy now is it? Please no.

I think he does a ok job. He looks like he's pressing, his body language is tight, probably because he's focusing on his vocs and he's a bit intimidated. Understandable. That should be cured with time. Even if he does get to a point where he can relax and be fluid with the catolog I think it's impossible to convey the same sincerity because he's not Freddy. It doesn't matter if he's gay he'll have to do some writing of his own. Good luck with that. I just watched a Foreigner concert recorded in Nashville. Their replacement singer actually sounds better than Lou Gramms IMHO. Plus they've written new material with him that has the same nuances as the older classics that has charted well. Of all the fossil bands to rise from the dust with a new front man I think they've done the best. YMMV.

sorry to hear that. I'll miss you, if that means anything. Hmmmm. I think my wife has jacked Bubs account.
-
Thanks Bubs. I can't make the trip this year. My hours got cut and then my pay got cut. At this point I'm just thankful I can still pay my bills (well barely). Where's that Poe fella? I heard he can sing a tune or 2.

The crucible went away? Haven't been on there for years. I was wondering why with all the political stuff going on, this thread was still alive in the music area. Anyway.. Johnny B's post was spot on. Maybe if they keep compressing the files ever smaller and the quality keeps getting worse and worse a new market will open up with a different format. I don't know but I've watched almost everything else go this way. -

Depressing. Good thing I can't come up with a tune to save my life. I wouldn't be turning the gun on myself after the maggots picked me clean of all but my ammo. It seems logical that all this would lead to a localising of music success ,if it could be called that, since it's harder to steal from someone you see with your own eyes. -
You can't kill the metal...the metal will live on. When did BCR Greg start playing drums?
