Well, it was fun....... but it's over.

This joint is used to produce an angled headstock from thinner or shorter stock. Even rough work on a headstock or neck prior to the joint being glued up feels backwards from a production standpoint. -
Come on Brent are we ashamed?

And there's absolutely no debating most see it similarly. I see it as a waiter telling a patron that they were all sold out of the menu special...BUT, fortunately the waiter had been in the position to buy the last one and can offer it to the patron at a 50% markup. -

I can't answer this with anything but conjecture, but I'll say the price would be objectively fair. I'm happy to discuss offline what I feel my obligation is towards that guitar...It might come across as arrogant here. -

Thanks for explaining how the world works I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Making a profit is one thing, jumping on a deal simply for the opportunity to make someone pay nearly a grand more is another. We're not talking appreciation over a period of years, we're talking days. I can, and do. I guess I feel like if we get a great deal on a piece of gear, that we should pass it on when we sell. If the guitar has appreciated while in your hands, fine...but that's not what we're talking about here. Good for svl that he doesn't feel Brent's shafted him, and hopefully whoever bought the Standard doesn't feel shafted either. I'm obviously in the minority on this one, so hooray for Brent, way to hook a brother up! -

Sure. Why should someone that might have kept the damn thing be given the chance for a good deal when someone that's sold two of the same model weeks after buying them can make a profit. -

He couldn't ask us for the $800 more than he paid, cause we knew what he got it for. -
No More Hamer, Ever
cynic replied to Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Agreed. There's been much talk about the skills of Hamer employees (and I'm not arguing), but employees as a whole will rarely perform higher than expectations on a consistent basis. Put these same guys in Nashville (USA) and I'm betting either their attention to detail drops or they're shown the door for being too slow. Likewise, take a G-USA employee and put them in the environment fostered by Hamer and they suddenly perform at higher levels. Every new model introduced could be looked at as Mercury's replacement in Queen; the shift from modern-vintage to shredder (or vice versa), the new Beatles. Some accept it, some don't....nevertheless, it's the same brand . -

If any of my local dealers carried their products or had turned me onto them, I wouldn't have had to google Myka and Schroeder to figure out who/what they were. Both sound like one man operations, so not comparable to Hamer. -
Could you please enlighten us and share the name of this builder?

Bad Ass Dean Z Bass
cynic replied to BTMN's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
I had zorrow's DOA goldtop V for a bit and really liked the guitar, but my understanding of these is the production numbers were more a reflection of the level of pre-order commitment they could generate on the Dean forum, not any sort of limited availability imposed by the company. I'm open to correction, but in the reading I did about them when I got zorrow's that was the impression I was left with. I got along well with mine, but the quality never felt better than other non usa/czech Deans. -
I'm not sure the high road has room for you when your first post implied anyone who did "get it" when it comes to Kiss was easily fooled by a huge joke of talentless hacks full of smoke and mirrors and a good marketing strategy. It's STILL all good, but when your critique felt like it was going beyond the members of the band, you can't feel victimized if someone tells you to shut it and move on.

My custom order Sunburst on ebay
cynic replied to BadgerDave's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
"It is one of the first custom ordered flat-top Sunbursts Hamer produced since they stopped making the originals in 1983." -
There's a reason KISS concerts today are VERY similar to KISS concerts c. 1976. I don't think there's a good, representative studio release that captures the best of KISS. I'd explore single tracks at this point, given the portion of their catalog that's been overplayed apparently hasn't done it for you. Here's my list of what I consider their best tracks off their better albums: Kiss: Cold Gin, 100,000 Years, Black Diamond Hotter Than Hell: Parasite, Goin Blind, Strange Ways Dressed to Kill: Ladies in Waiting, Rock Bottom, She Destroyer: it's a reach, but I'd say Sweet Pain (excluding the annoying chorus vocals) There are groups of ten that are more representative of KISS as a whole, but I don't think there are ten better tracks that capture what I felt was good about them back then.

After getting my Tally last March, I've really come to admire the Hamer Tobacco Burst finish. After the matching Superpro below made it through a round of eBay without getting any bids, the owner and I were able to work something out, and it's made its way to San Diego. I've only played it for maybe a half hour through a Yamaha THR10 practice amp so I can't really comment on amplified sound yet, but it's very resonant and plays fantastic. At 7.6lbs, it's also very shoulder friendly.

One of the most complete packages in the history of popular music...some would say he's even better than Taylor Swift

I don't envy Lambert or how big that stage must feel at times. He did an admirable job vocally but this looked like a band with a guest singer. Of course, as Jay pointed out that will become more natural with time. I would probably go see this if given the chance, but only as an opportunity to see/hear Brian May again. That said, after watching these performances I question the point of them doing it at all. If you want a night out enjoying the music of Queen, I saw the "A Different Kind Of Magic" tribute band, and would recommend them over this.

Harder To Be A Scumbag At Concerts

Only one scumbag in a packed house in Newark? That's flat beating the shit right outta some odds! -
I'm hearing very similar reviews from friends that attended the New Orleans show last night. They all had great things to say about Eddie, Alex, and Wolfgang, but all agreed DLR was a train wreck.
