  1. $37k for the Blitz AND the Nugent signed NRA Special and we've got a deal!
  2. Not sure how they are everywhere, but one of the two times I've shipped an amp head I took it to a Fedex/Kinkos in San Diego. They built a box and according to the recipient, packed it for war. Them doing the packing added zero cost so I only paid the flat shipping cost.
  3. Late 90s/early 00s MIJ Epiphones or any of the current crop of MIJ LP styles by FGN, Bacchus, Edwards, etc.
  4. Out of the twenty-three instruments still with me, nine are Fender, Squier, or other brands in Fender shapes, so it would seem I lean towards them. The only brands I own more than one of beyond that are Gibson (one electric, one acoustic) and Deering (one five string, one six string). If I had to limit it to one it would be either the Gibson J-200 Jr or my Martin D-18.
  5. He's 61. At some point everything becomes excess. "Collections" are typically top of the list.
  6. With some increasing physical limitations I was ready to walk away, and I mostly did for a time but for the last several years I'm playing more than I did in the preceding twenty. The seed was kinda planted by the @Dasein project to cover Stairway to Heaven (I think it was Stairway but I can't find it now). Whatever the song was, his goal was to nail every single note, and he achieved it in spades. It was really something. I knew I didn't have the chops to do what he did but it led me down a path of thinking I'd arrange covers of songs I'd always liked with an eye towards straying as far from the original as pleased me. Between my diminishing abilities and my fumbling through figuring out some basic functions in recording software it's been frustrating at times but I've enjoyed learning a little about that side of things while also reframing an interest I'd basically lost. Edited to add: Found it! Here's a link to The Stairway Project site by Dasein, and here is the HFC thread.
  7. Is that the same Atomic Punks that became Steel Panther?
  8. A member recently has his Superpro opened up and shows it pretty well.
  9. Is it? My impression is it's about the general shapes of things and there are LOTS of US companies that have made LOTS of similarly shaped guitars, both of US and foreign origin.
  10. The seller says "made for/built for" enough it feels like code that Tommy has never laid eyes on it, but that doesn't take a thing away from the guitar. Very cool!
  11. Contact paper would be relatively easy to apply smoothly across the back surface.
  12. Those are Hamer branded Schallers.
  13. I didn't find your "everything is original or period correct" statement misleading at all.....until you came on and started naming the things that are neither.
  14. The guy on the left looks comfortable enough, but the guy on the bike with its stand down, both feet on the pegs, and his hands on the bends looks to be a bigger clown than either of the guys on the back.
  15. You should find a Squier Classic Vibe 70s thinline that you can play locally and see what you think. I got mine about five years ago and it's a decent guitar that sets up well while it remains as is from the factory. It's more in the perfectly serviceable realm than high quality, but a bit of a hidden gem I think.
  16. He's super skilled and a far better player than I could ever hope to be, but I'd rather listen to me.
  17. I’m pretty sure 1 and 2 are only problematic for a couple members here. To anyone else in the world they’re perfectly reasonable questions.
  18. If you're liking the hiking, Valley of Fire state park is a must. It needs a whole day to itself though, where Red Rock can be a quick morning or afternoon thing. If you're planning to see Hoover Dam you should include a stop at Hemenway Park in Boulder City. It's a very brief detour off the route and a local herd of Bighorn Sheep can often be found chillaxin there.
  19. There's a very simple solution among the signature settings...
  20. Funny....my garage also had very large Klipsch boxes following my divorce. Must be a thing.
  21. They look odd on guitars made for adults.
  22. I appreciate three things about this list. 1. It includes more genres than similar "best of" lists and crosses multiple generations 2. Those genres don't include country or western 3. There's no Dead
