PUP change on a Hamer Standard (MIK)
sledhead44 replied to chinocapuchino's question in Ask the HFC Experts
I've had six MIK Standards. I am down to two. I have tried all of the following SD pickups in the bridge: SH-4 (JB), SH-5 (Duncan Custom), SH-6 (Duncan Distortion) and the SH-12 (Screamin' Demon). I've also had the DiMarzio DP-100 (Super Distortion), and the DiMarzio DP-155 (Tone Zone). My favorite of them is the Seymour Duncan SH-6. I don't usually use the neck pup in my MIK Standards, but I had one with a DiMarzio DP-193 (Air Norton) which sounded pretty good. In my USA Standard I have a SD SH-PG1 (Pearly Gates) in the neck and a SD SH-6 (Duncan Distortion) in the bridge -

Thanks for sharing Sugartune. I have been using Searchtempest.com. I like the one you posted. It highlights the ads I have already checked, so I don't click on the same ad if it's cross-posted in different cities. -

PSA:2001 Standard on eBay
sledhead44 replied to Hbom's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
2001 Hamer Standard Custom, B&C in what looks to be the typical '59 burst finish with what some apparently consider better than average flame. Only $2780 to your door. Thanks for the info Cynic! Seems pretty steep. -
PSA:2001 Standard on eBay
sledhead44 replied to Hbom's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
What's the price? Specs? I can't see ebay at work. I'll have to check it out tonight. Been thinking of getting another Standard. -

Awesome Diablo! F*kn Shredtastic! -
Packing peanuts are very handy for packing, a real bitch for unpacking and cleanup. But I'll take a styro peanut mess over shipping damage any day. I actually received a car part packed with REAL peanut shells. I wonder how long it took the boss to figure out his employees had no idea what packing peanuts were.

"Just replaced pickups and it sounds AMAZING!" No it doesn't....sounded like shit before and you still can't make it sound good...that's why you're selling it.

Come on Brent are we ashamed?
sledhead44 replied to bubs_42's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
I don't blame Brent at all....I would have done the same thing. What's the big deal anyway? He didn't rip anyone off. He sold it for market value. He got a killer deal and flipped it for a nice profit, but still sold at MARKET VALUE! Which no one here was or would have been willing to pay. I saw it posted on another site and thought maybe that's what I'm going to have to do to avoid a razzing on here with a few pieces that I got at exceptional deals. If someone was selling a guitar that I wanted at a price I was willing to pay, I wouldn't care what they paid for it! Good for them! -
Put Hamer Standards in the hands of James Hetfield Put Hamer Cali Elites and Vectors in the hands of Kirk Hammett Build them anything they want...... Others will be begging to buy Might be hard to do on a budget...I have no idea what those guys get for endorsement money.

Considering the Floyd..........
sledhead44 replied to carfish7's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
They were having some special deal and if I recall correctly I think I got it for under $100. I see they are going for $159 now! For those of you not wanting to mess with a Floyd, I get it....they can be a real PIA sometimes. I just can't see myself ever NOT having at least one floyded guitar. Currently I have 5. Could be an influence thing. Growing up, heavy hair metal was my main influence. A guitar without a Floyd just did not look right to me for a very long time. A few of the players listed on FU are Warren DeMartini, CC Deville, George Lynch, Mick Mars, Scotti Hill, Dave Sabo....all main influences. -
Considering the Floyd..........
sledhead44 replied to carfish7's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I thought the whole "big block" idea was just a bunch of snake oil, but I put a titanium big block in my Jackson SH-2 and I feel that it made a difference. I am just a bedroom player, so I'm not sure if I'm using the right description for you giggers, but I feel it gave me more bottom end "boom" and more sustain, YMMV. -
In the winter months I have to do that too. Dr. said to use "Bag Balm" and then put my hands in socks or loose fitting gloves while I sleep. It's really a PIA because I'm an accountant and I can barely use the calculator (or play guitar) when it gets bad.

Not a problem for some, but of the few P Basses I've tried the necks seemed way too chunky for me. I went with a slimmer neck T-Bird. Are there slim neck P Basses?

HFC Trade Gone Bad
sledhead44 replied to savethematches's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
That sucks man! The HFC is a good group of people. I never feel like I have to worry with deals on here. I always worry a little bit about ebay deals. The last bad deal I can remember hearing about was that "Minty" and "Prestine" Destroyer which I think was a couple years ago Is there any way we could make a sticky for members in unfavorable standing? Or is it kinda too late after the fact, like those type of people make one bad deal and just move on to another forum, and / or change their user name? -
I dig it. Going to check out their other stuff. Checked out Metal Nation, Now or Never, and a few other songs. Great riffing. I guess I am a new fan and that is very hard for me to like a song the fist time I hear it. Wow, 9 Albums...what do you suggest to buy savethematches?
