  1. I am a big fan /user of this company's work, although the two I have look nothing like their current offerings. But well designed and well built. https://holeyboardpedalboards.com/
  2. I took this pic about six or seven years ago. I actually added a few Hamers after that, but now I am down to two: a Duotone and a Newport. Still have 20-plus guitars, but had a big sell-off.
  3. I saw him in Seattle at the Seattle Center Arena in 1976. He came out on stage, there was a problem with the PA, so he left, came out 15-20 minutes later, and had the same problem. So he left the stage again. When he came back out he was very apologetic and then played for 3 1/2 hours to make up for the delays. I want to say Montrose was the opener but that was a lot of Heinekens ago.......
  4. I know a lot of you guys are in the Midwest. There's a guitar at Dave's that I am lusting over. They have had it for sale for quite a while. It's on Reverb but there's no "Make an Offer" option. Are the prices at Dave's negotiable? Is it worth calling them up and making an offer? Thanks!
  5. So I have two of these and at this point really need none. For the last two years, I did about 35 shows each year playing bass for a good friend of mine, but it's over. I have a new music project playing guitar. Sold my Harke bass amps and now I need to make these basses go away. I paid $800 for one and $775 for the other three years ago, but it would appear that the market for these is now softer, so how about $600.00 shipped? I had this up for sale here last summer for $800 but have been doing a lot of traveling. took them down and now just want them gone. Long scale, five-string, Bartolini pickups, neck-through construction, three-way active e/q, maple, mahogany with a walnut cap, rings like a piano. I have received more compliments from audience members about the look of these instruments than any of my guitars over my 50-year performing career. greenmanstone at gmail
  6. Isn't that the guitar model that they drove over a whole bunch of them with an excavator?
  7. I just came across this gem. https://www.amazon.com/Marshall-4-4-High-Capacity-Fridge/dp/B07SDLMSD5/ref=asc_df_B07SDLMSD5?mcid=0ee9584f01563109b71eb299f41ad19d&hvocijid=4288327968515757321-B07SDLMSD5-&hvexpln=73&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=692875362841&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4288327968515757321&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9033632&hvtargid=pla-2281435179098&psc=1
  8. Four guitars landed here in '24 but no Hamers. Yamaha Asuka, Yamaha SA2200, Nash S-57, and a custom Lashing V. All are killer.
  9. Hi Saul, I have the ashtray bridge and cover that came off of this Tele. Years ago, I replaced the bridge with a chromed machined unit with six saddles like what's on a Tele Deluxe. You can have it for free if you pick up the shipping. Let me know if you want it, Cam
  10. I have used Boss AD-5 preamps for years. I am sure there's something newer that would work even better, but I have two of these and love them. A buddy of mine uses the Fishman Aura with his acoustic rig.
  11. The three holers have the Kaman/Ovation piezo bridge, the later Duotone Customs have a bridge called a Kynar under the saddle.
  12. I am glad the surgery went smoothly. You probably have some restrictions on how much weight they want you to lift post-op. I had neck surgery to remove a benign tumor from the top of my spine about seven years back. The surgeon told me he didn't want me to lift over eight pounds for three weeks. Without missing a beat I asked him "How am I gonna take a leak?" He thought that was pretty funny.
  13. Post the oldest picture of you playing a Hamer. In the summer of 1978 I went to work for Bandstand East Music in Bellevue, Washington. The following year we took in a '79 Sunburst and I fell in love and bought it. That same year, I ordered a Standard directly from Hamer and got it in the spring of 1980. I wound up working music retail till '86. So this picture of me with my Sunburst is from 1979. The picture with my Standard is from 1980. No competition, but let's see some pictures of you and your first Hamer (or it didn't happen).
  14. Duotones are awesome! I have owned four and still have a three-holer. The ideal setup for me is to run the magnetic pickups through my pedalboard into my amp and the piezo through an acoustic preamp / D.I. and then into the P.A.. With the right preamp, you can dial in a pretty usable acoustic sound. You can blend your electric and acoustic levels right on the guitar. A true Swiss Army Knife guitar. As stated above, Geoff Hartwell can give you his 2 cents. He's a pro who plays Duotones.
  15. I never made any commitments to the challenge. Only four new acquisitions for 2024.
  16. From the left it's Cruise Bass, then two Monaco Superpros, then a Special LE, the Newport, Duotone 3 holer, a Sunburst Archtop. then two Duotone Customs. The Superpros are not the same dimensions as a Newport although they are larger than an Artist. I have a Newport with Phat Cats. For sure it's a different guitar tone-wise than an Artist. I can get Fender sounds out of the Newport that you wouldn't be able to get with an Artist. Not better or worse, just different. I vote that you need both.
  17. The Newport is in the middle with the Bigsby. The Artist's body is the same dimensions as the two guitars on both sides of the Newport and all of the guitars to the right.
  18. I played the new Lashing V at rehearsal last night. It's awesome, super light, and very resonant. I realized that the body is one piece of mahogany. There's no seam down the middle. That's a wide piece of mahogany. Anyway, I'm very happy with the guitar. I'm not sure how to do a tone report, but I did play it all evening. Other than the one tune where I needed to play the resonator.
  19. I have an old 1984 Mark III that I gig with a lot. Found it on Craigslist in Portland. Paid $800 five years ago with a flight case. The previous owner had just bought a Mark V. It's awesome.
  20. Back in 2008 when I got divorced, I sold a 1980 Hamer Vector with a flame maple top here on the HFC and have regretted it ever since. So I have been wanting to replace it, but they never come up for sale. I found a Lashing flame top V on Reverb and started messaging back and forth with the owner. Lashing was a high-end luthier in Canada who did not do repair work, but did do custom builds and restoration work on '50s and '60s Fenders and Gibsons. I had never heard of him, and he has since closed shop, but as I read more about him, it became obvious that his work is top-notch. So I made an offer on this custom V and it's now incoming. Has anyone here heard of Lashing guitars? https://lashingguitars.com/ My new guitar is featured on his website here: https://lashingguitars.com/burstv/index.html Pics of my old '80 Hamer and the new Lashing are below.
  21. My #1 guitar in the late '70s and early '80s was a 1974 Gibson Les Paul 20th Anniversary in Alpine White. Even though I had a '78 Hamer Sunburst and an '80 Standard. I have some pictures of the Gibson somewhere, but not sure where. I lifted this image off the interwebs. Anyway, that guitar weighed a lot. A Norlin beast! It's long gone, I sold it in the mid-'80s when I got married and started a family, and put music aside for a decade and a half. When I saw this thread, that old Gibson came to mind. My shoulder still hurts.
  22. I used to own one. I bought it from Wilcutt and sold it here maybe 15 years ago. It's kind of a rare bird. Good luck.
  23. My Gibson R8 has been my #1 ever since I found her 8 years ago. I am thinking that it's less about a manufacturer and more about a preferred single instrument IMHO.
