Dang it, we're in Florida this weekend so I can't come out to see you this time.

I've been fortunate to see Nick in a variety of configurations, starting with the Impossible Bird tour with Bill Kirchen. Whether he's by himself or with a full band, he never fails to put on a fabulous show full of great songs and stories. BTW, reading that article on my phone was incredibly frustrating with all the pop ups and refreshes. Maybe try it on a computer.

I have really bonded with the Monaco Elite I picked up locally earlier this year. I did swap the pickups as I was not thrilled with the Duncans. It's towards the top of the heap. I thought the little ledge would bug me, but I don't notice it at all when playing and have no issues getting to the upper frets.

I'll be travelling this coming spring and wanted a good TSA flight case. I've had great experience with Gator, and in my search this came up: https://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/gator-g-fp-tsa-lps-v2-flight-pro-tsa-ata-molded-gibson-les-paul-guitar-case/l81205000000000 On sale for $120 with an additional 10% discount. $108 shipped for a nice molded hard case seems damn good to me.

I can't think of a better reason for you to get out of your swamp. Give it some consideration and let me know. -
Gene Simmons Band Announces 2025 Tour

@velorush, are you going to the Beaver Dam show? LMK if so and I'll see about joining you. It works be good to meet after so many years of conversing. -
Those Greco GO models have always intrigued me, but I've never pulled the trigger on one. I do know the quality coming out of Fujigen in the late 70s was superb, they were just hitting their stride in 79, IMO. 4 bills is a steal for that, love the funky 6 on a side headstock, too.

I am the original owner of this gorgeous Japanese Korina Explorer. I have said many times that while these are probably not completely on par with a Hamer Korina Standard, they are damn close. The biggest difference is a 2 piece body on the Momose. It has a good size neck (0.90" at the 1st fret, 0.95" at the 12th) and has a nice weight at 8.1 pounds. I played it out once at a low key gig, but otherwise it has been at my smoke-free house. It is in very good to excellent shape. I've helped a couple of members acquire one of these, hopefully they can chime in on their experience. If anyone has been hoping for a Korina Standard to pop up for a good price, this could be a good placeholder. But I predict it would become much more than that. $2,300 shipped

After much internal debate on how to significantly reduce my collection and which guitars to let go, I have decided to sell 2 Explorer/Standard shaped guitars, beginning with this incredible Shishkov Ultimate #0011. My Momose Korina MEX will be going up next. I'm the 2nd owner and can't find a mark on it. It has a pretty chunky neck (0.95" at the first fret, 0.98" at the 12th) and only weighs 7.6 pounds. I don't think I need to pour out any accolades here. Everyone here is familiar. SOLD - $5,500 shipped

It takes me all of 2 minutes to take 4 neck measurements, weight and include them in my listings. As a seller, why make things harder than they need to be.

Thanks for the responses and thoughts. I think I agree with @cynic that the pickups are probably not original, the slug posts on both look a little flatter than I would expect were they original. Still, they sound pretty good. Unless I'm willing to try to remove the refinish on the back of the headstock, I doubt that I'll ever know the serial number and exact year. I may try to date the pots, though they are messy (another indication of non-original pickups). I did notice that the Grovers are not bullseye like the one @tommyh shared. Maybe they were swapped, too. Or maybe it indicates a late 78/early 79 model. Given what a player it is, I don't really care that much. @Bennyboy-UK It was listed on the Yahoo Auction site. The title said "Hammer Sunbirst", so maybe it fell under some searchers' radar. I was the only bidder. No case, but did come with a decent gig bag. https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e1155455559

I took a chance on this one. It was listed for sale in Japan for a very reasonable price. From the posted pics, I was fairly certain that the back of the neck had been refinished and probably indicated a headstock break or other issue, but that wasn't enough to dissuade me. It also had a pretty good amount of playwear and a couple of screw holes where, I'm guessing, a pickguard was installed. It was delivered today and the neck has definitely been refinished, covering up the serial number. However, there is a wood spacer under the sustain block bridge and the headstock is the early long version. So I'm guessing that it's a '78. It also looks like a layer of clear coat was sprayed on the headstock front as some of the dings look to be covered with it. The good news is that the neck is straight and it plays well up and down the neck. The frets are in great shape, so probably a refret at some point in its life. The pickups are older Dimarzios, so are hopefully original. I confirmed that everything works as it should, but haven't had the opportunity to really dig into it yet. Definitely a player grade, but still a vintage Hamer that I can play without worries. Here are a few pics, so if anyone wants to add their thoughts or correct any of my assumptions or conclusions, please do. I may bring this one up to Chicago this weekend for the get together.

I hope it's not too late to rsvp, I sent an email. Looks like I'm going to be in Chicago that weekend. Looking forward to meeting a few members I've only met online.
