do you mean poplar?

He was a workhorse for sure.

if it wasn't Christmas the news would have surely ruined my day. What a great performer. He was a workhorse.

Exactly!

Well I didn't use the 2-sided tape or the wax. when I tried the tape my polepieces looked like they were too low. The covers were tight enough that I didn't have to use anything. I just slide 'em all the way in and soldered them. Haven't had a chance to plug them into a real amp yet so I hope they aren't microphonic. I like a lot of gain so I have my fingers crossed. But they look badass! I did discover that my bridge pup is a '59 though and not a JB. I have always liked my bridge pickup alot and often wondered what so many could have against the JB b/c I loved it. Well I was lovin' the '59 all this time. BTW thanks Greg! Everytime I call BCR it feels like I am calling up an old pal for a chat. I love your service man! And I loved the message and artwork included. ~Chris

Ok I got some pickup covers for my Studio with The stock JB and 59 installed. Now how do I install these covers. What kind of wax do I use? Candle wax or canning wax or does it matter? Also I have heard of using 2-sided tape instead of wax can I do this if so do I still need to solder them? Please help. ~Chris Stokes

Brooks you should try out a Tophat amp. One of the Club series, they are 20 watts and sound great. The Club Royale is an El84 power section. It can do the Marshall and Vox type sounds very well. The Club Deluxe is more American sounding with 6V6's. The best thing about the Tophat's are how interactive the EQ funcions are. ~CS -

I saw that too Thunder. You slide? The product looks cool. I could wear dark shades and do impressions of that guitar player in RoadHouse. Man I always know his name till I need to use it. Anyway cool product, fissy seller. Let me know if you ever find anything else like it. ~CS

Studio with the right pickups seems like it would work. I would say anything but the Improv. ~STOKES

thats cool as hell. thanks for posting. do you have anymore pics? What kind of bridge is that? ~CS -
ok next question. Lets say I use a tremolo. Which one? I have ZERO experience with tremolos. Never really liked em cause of the way I bend notes and play fretted notes at the same time the fretted note goes flat with the bend. Whats a good tremolo to use on a 24 3/4" scale guitar that well stay in tune? ~CS

Hmmm.... Thanks for the tip Steve. Next time I will know. ~CS

Ok Greggles where are you?
-
Does he make guitar necks. I "googled" him and it looks like he went bankrupt and Ed Roman took over building his guitars. Anybody have any experience with this sort of thing. ~CS

Who's Baker? ~Chris

Really! Thats cool. Is it fixable? Should I give up the project to a pro. Greg shoot me an email when you get a chance and let me know what you think on this one. Thanks for the help Steve! You are the best when someone needs some help ID'ing an old Hamer. ~CS

I started a new thread because I butchered the other one all up and it was a little hard to follow. OK so I get this guitar for free well most of it any way. NO HEADSTOCK! My drummer brings it to practice to give to the other guitar player in my band. He says no thanks its trash. So then my drummer looks at me and I say hell yeah I'll take it. Its made out of wood right, well then I can do something with it. At the minimum I can burn it. (I was always a pyro as a child) Then drummer boy says, "my buddy said it's an old Hamer" I say, No way. Its probably an Epiphone or something. No one would do this to an American made guitar." Well I started to rethink that when I sanded it today and descovered a maple top. I was not thinking about how thin they used to make those veneers and before I realized it I sanded through it on the horns. Then Steve Haynie tells me on the other thread that it is a Hamer b/c of the control cavity route. Now this was gonna be something I wanted to do myself but know I dont know. Can anyone tell me the date of this guitar from the one volume pot that was left in the guitar. Assuming it is original. Tremolo anyone? Ahh Maple: Its hard for me to tell with no finish but it seems like pretty nice figuring to me. Some of you with a better eye for such can probably decide for yourself. If anybody can tell me more about this guitar from the pics of the pot please let me know. Or if there are any other pics I could take to better narrow it down I can. ~CS
