Austin City Limits is a national treasure, in my book. I love the show.

Really Thorn?? Happy Bday!!
a.bandini replied to BlueRedWhite's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
It started with watching Johnny Cash, if we are to believe it! Happy Birthday, Thorn. -
Shiny...very shiny. Didn't rainman say something like that on a slightly different subject? Nice work!

Unobtainium! That's the stuff. Got to get some of that. Thanks for the posts, and the work. I'm looking forward to plugging it in, if only I can decide what finish to ask for.

Toby! Where have you been? Guess it doesn't matter. Welcome back.

The priority that many people place on their cell phones as compared to treating the people around them decently has gotten out of hand. It is a form of selfishness or maybe an expression of an inability to delay gratification that worries me. (Kids, get off my lawn. Yeah, I'm older and grumpy.) I'm glad Frampton did what he did.

Need help tracking down guitar history...
a.bandini replied to Brentrocks's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
That's pretty cool! Mystery solved? Did they say there were no serial numbers on them? -
Wow. That's pretty FANTASTIC. We see this end result, but I'd like to know the back story. Regardless, I'm impressed.

Tough choice. At the moment I'm on the hook for a '59 burst, but I change my mind between that and many others daily. A green burst sounds awfully cool, as does a tobacco burst, and a kelleher burst, and every other one (other than clown burst) I've seen. Love them all.

I committed to buying one around 0900-1000 this morning. I had to do it at work. My boss also plays guitar and will understand! I hope I (and all the rest of us) was/were early enough to make the cut. I wish Mike the very best with this, and hope we can all continue to support him.

This guitar makes no sense to me

"One of a kind." We can hope. -
Very impressive; well done, and thanks for sharing.

Good luck, everyone. I hope all of you in the path duck this stuff. I didn't like this aspect of life when I lived in Omaha.

Creating A Hamer: a behind the scenes look
a.bandini replied to HSB0531's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Awesome. Exquisite. -
I've missed seeing these impressive projects, thanks for putting it up. I'll be interested to see how you remove the excess wood on the back of the neck. Does the order of installing splines vs. reinforcing the weak wood matter in this specific case? (Splines first, then replace wood vs. replace the weak wood and then put splines in? The engineer in me is curious. Thanks. ) I know where to send mine if anything like this ever happens.

I'm awfully impressed by the blending of the neck. Impressive work, guys, my hat's off! -
Wife who really wants a guitar sold
a.bandini replied to Drendino's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Judging by the look on her face in one of the photos, I'm not so sure she thought it was actually a good idea, after all. Kind of makes me sad. GLWTS. -
Can freezing cold/thawing snap a truss rod?
a.bandini replied to carfish7's question in Ask the HFC Experts
The Boston subway's third rails on the red line cracked due to the cold earlier this week, and it probably wasn't below 20F. There is a phenomenon known as brittle fracture that metals, especially relatively inexpensive steels (as I understand things), can undergo. Take a preexisting microscopic flaw in a steel object, and stress it by cooling the metal down, and the crack can spontaneously propagate throughout the structure, whether it is a bridge girder, subway rail, or a ship. Things get brittle as they get cold. You've seen similar things happen if you've ever had plastic crack in the cold. Check out the Wikipedia article that describes how that type of a phenomenon can crack a ship in half. So, if cold and a preexisting flaw can crack a third rail and break a ship in half then a truss rod, which is certainly under stress, and probably isn't made out of the highest grade steel, ought to be a piece of cake. Just something else for those of us who are flawed and stressed have to worry about this winter. -

Time To Sell----Yet Again
a.bandini replied to django49's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
I've used this excuse before but my daughter starts college next year, so as much as I'd like to have a couple of those, I'll leave them for others. Nice guitars! Good luck with your sale! -
Lost Prophets singer is a pedophile
a.bandini replied to Submariner85's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
That is pretty much the definition of evil, in my book. -
Hey Ted, Hang in there. This is a bad thing, and no one in your house "deserved" it in any way. The jerks who did it will be caught, and with any luck the "stuff" will come home. If not, as you said it is just "stuff" and really, not important. Annoying and deeply disturbing? Hell yes, but the important things - you and your family - are OK. They make new "stuff" every day. We are all pulling for you and your family. Let us know if we can help in any way. We are your friends, and want to help.

I keep seconding other's choices, but Unfun75 also nailed it: Nada Surf. Great stuff. Catchy, intelligent, well crafted. Damn near perfect.
