  1. Utopia - Oops! Wrong Planet. Utopia - Adventures in Utopia. Something/Anything. A Wizard, A True Star. Todd. Faithful. The Hermit of Mink Hollow. Healing. Nearly Human. No World Order. The Individualist.
  2. I love Tele's & that is awesome!
  3. If you like that then listen to the drumming on this - the bass drum work is insane:
  4. Wow - Paul Hamer! Great to have you on the forum. (I spoke to you MANY years ago at the Frankfurt music trade fair in Germany. You probably remember me............. )
  5. Very sad news. An incredible musician, character & true genius. RIP Les.
  6. White, though I'd choose ANY colour over tort - I fucking HATE tort!!! I'd rather have my pickups held in place with dogshit than have a tort pickguard.
  7. Totally unheard of by me.
  8. If I put an album on I'll always listen to it all, the way the artist intended. The only way I listen to one or two songs by different people is when I decide to have a session with my 7" & 12" vinyl singles collection. I also never buy "Best of" compilations - I either like a band enough to buy the proper albums or not at all. I absolutely hate all this ipod "download-a-few-tracks-from-an-album-shuffle-play" shit. No wonder music has become so devalued.
  9. Bass influences: Geezer Butler Roger Glover Chris Squire Martin Turner Geddy Lee Paul Gardiner Barry Adamson Tony Levin Guitar influences: David Gilmour John McGeoch Alex Lifeson Steve Hillage Steve Hackett John Martyn Andy Summers Elliot Easton
  10. I've always thought my 1982 Special (not much difference construction-wise than a Sunburst) sounds like an SG on steroids. It's certainly closer in tone to an SG than a Les Paul, which is no bad thing IMO.
  11. Happy Birthday Greg - have a good one!
  12. It's got a really strange 3D quality to it - it looks like an electron microscope picture of lung tissue or something equally unpleasant... or the pictures of the Red Weed from the illustrations for Jeff Waynes "War of the Worlds" album.
  13. Not with that serial number. Must be an import. I thought the serial number was a bit long..... Having re-read the initial description of the guitar I also see that "Sunburst" is given as the style, not the finish. Hey-ho. That's what I get for trying to answer questions after a bottle of wine...........
  14. From your brief description of the pick-ups/control layout & serial number I'd take a guess that the guitar is a 1991 Centaura.
  15. The Pursuit of Happiness. +1 for whoever said Spocks Beard - awesome band, saw them live a few weeks ago & they were superb.
  16. I've spoken to him briefly & he's a really nice person. One of the conditions for my being allowed to hang around back stage, watch sound checks & stuff was that I didn't hassle anybody (especially Gilmour) which is fair enough. He came over & chatted to me for a minute or two & he was very friendly & polite.
  17. The main effect he uses on "Comfortably numb" is an Electric Mistress flanger. As a general rule Gilmour tends to play with a very clean sound and add any distortion with pedals, rather than using pre-amp distortion. Nearly all his pedals have been extensively modified. (The drummer in the band I play in is Gilmour's stage manager/drum tech, so I've been lucky enough to see his guitar rig up close a few times).
  18. "Death cab for cutie" is a song by the Bonzo Dog Doo-dah Band. It's on the album "Gorilla" which was released in 1967.
  19. When I was a kid my father had "John Denver live in London" on 8 track cartridge (that dates it!) and I used to listen to it all the time, I loved it. I still find myself singing songs from it to this day. His version of Jacques Brel's "The Port of Amsterdam" on this album is superb.
  20. No new ones for me unfortunately. I did, however, get this 1982 Special in May & it's bloody fantastic: It's got a few dings & a bit of lacquer checking but this just means it actually gets played, unlike my '95 Standard that's in such good condition I'm too scared to pick it up......
  21. I've been using a Rivera Thirty Twelve combo for the last couple of years & I love it - best guitar amp I've ever had. Twin channel - one "Marshall-y" & one "Fender-y" plus a boost circuit for each channel. Very versatile, does all I need an amp to do. Great build quality & totally reliable - I'd recommend it to anyone.
  22. Hello there, I've been a member on here for a little while, but it's the first time I've posted.... There's a supposedly custom shop Hamer Vintage S on Ebay at the moment which looks kosher enough to me apart from the lack of the "USA" segment of the logo. Is this normal or could this guitar be not all it says it is? Here's a link to the auction: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=016 I'd be grateful for anyones help/comments on this - thanks.
