  1. Spellbinding stuff m8
  2. When I read the title, I thought it might be "what do you think of this itchy rash" kind of threads....
  3. These are the two I usually roll out for this kind of thing. Austins Centaura and my mega-steal super-deal SS1 this one made me want SS guitars
  4. I really like it. Tastefully upgraded.
  5. Just re-read your original post, mines almost exactly wrong to the one you wanted a review of!
  6. These are great! I've had 3, all 24 fret models, 2x 6 bolt and one 5 bolt neck. Small and very comfy, the necks are great, clubby and fast. I have one at the moment which was a massive ebay bargain... Something like 340 quid... At the very least find one to try. These and Hamers are the only guitars I'd personally buy sight unseen just from photos.
  7. Admin chaps, could you introduce a new HFC membership level for those of sufficient status... Based on things like this... "Epic Legend" for example... Or "The Ultimate" Could be a challenge in itself for suggestions from the rat of us. This is really cool stuff!
  8. Evening all, happy birthday!
  9. I like amp distortion if there is enough in there for me to play with, then back it off with the vol control on the guitar. That's the ultimate for me. My favourite amp distortion was a rickety old shagged-out Seymour Duncan 84-40.., that thing was mega but hella unreliable. I quite like the ability to have a pedal for distortion as well, as you can stick it up the front of any old clean amp and pretty much know where you are (within reason of course). If I was going to take a guitar and no amp to play somewhere, I'd probably take a pedal or 2 just so I had something referencable, or at least in case of gear failure. I can get sounds I like out of all sorts of different stuff, but it always sounds like me playing, and when I rarely go out to play, I've always used way less distortion than at home and different tone settings as adding volume give me the sustain I want with less gain, which is nice, and more controllable for me, plus finding a sound that sits nicely with a band is pretty much always different to the sounds I set up for fun at home
  10. How about an SS of some sort? I can't play that fast but have ended up with 3 of these, 2 Calis, a centaura plus others
  11. Something like these guys have been doing on this side f the pond: http://www.gordonsmithguitars.com
  12. Bloody stupid bloody fender bloody....
  13. Aha. I be novice, heard about delay in the loop and things like that. "Need input Stevenie!"
  14. Is that lot going up the front ( if you will) or is some of it sneaking up the back on the effects loop?
  15. Content for vol 2
  16. (Hello kitty squier strat excluded naturally from my righteous rant. I want one of those)
  17. Yeah, gin and tonic made me ditch my mild mannered and measured Brit persona and get stuck in to what's wrong with the big music corps. And to be fair, let them get on with it. I don't go to other forums to post things, no point...because I wouldn't last. I'm not going to be a sycophant to the big boy brands. It's getting to the point where the genius of the classic designs are just getting diluted to fit any perceived demographic. Even if some really great individual instruments come out of them. I don't reckon that much has got better since maybe 1993 for those boys, save the uber expensive custom shop stuff. Granted 200 quid buys you a better new guitar that I could ever buy when I was starting out, and that's admirable, but regarding product development? Bollocks, largely, in my educated and valuable opinion
  18. And just while I'm being cross. Why won't bloody gibson reissue a proper SG jr based on 61-63ish spec. Oh they made the one that has the wrong neckjoint and the wrong controls...no doubt an 'improvement' ... And made me particularly fucked off. I don't want that. I'm not going to do a warranty return if I stand on my cable and split the body at the jack socket. I'm so cross about it, I mean they done all the other jrs... At least to some extent. Why not one of the best of the bunch. I would imagine they would be cost effective to make, and a decent margin per instrument. But obviously that's too much like common sense, what we need is some more stupid ill conceived crap to fill up their website. Go away.
  19. What ever will FMIC come up with next... I mean there are only 900 models of strat you can chose from today. 800 tele's, and now some silly old shite that was never any good in the first place. I might sack my current career off to join them and sort this shit out. ..and they binned Hamer? For fucks sake.
  20. I believe my dad would venture... "They were shit then, and they'll be shit now"
