  1. Clay's shop is two exits down the highway from mine.
  2. They did but it was a special order and not a stock item.
  3. Also known as a "fuck off price". Technically I bought it used so not exactly a loyal customer. 😄 I could be wrong but I think the carved top Sunburst wasn't wasn't a stock offering until 91?
  4. Growing up in Chapel Hill Oxbow was a lot of used stuff and B&B Music carried pretty much just Fender, Ibanez and Peavey. First time I walked into AL&M I was maybe 14 and was like "Woah!!!", first place I ever saw a Hamer in person.
  5. Yes but the Hamer would have been aestheticly pleasing. 😄
  6. 38 years ago I was 17 and my prized Hamer Sunburst was stolen from my parents house. I had purchased it used but found out after the theft that it had been a special order for the guy that ran a store in nearby Raleigh called Audio, Light & Music, there's still one in Norfolk VA. In the 80s Floyded carved top Sunbursts IIRC were not a standard offering and was told that it was one of just a few (maybe even two?) made and another went to Andy Summers. I wrote to Hamer to get an estimate to have another built and this was the reply. I had forgotten about it but was going through my late father's file cabinets earlier today and came across it, though it might be of mild interest to the group. I didn't place the order...I took the check from the insurance company and had the luthier at the store where I bought the used Hamer (Oxbow Music in Chapel Hill) build a super Strat with Tom Anderson parts and got an ESP M-1 as well a bitchin' Randall RG100ES head instead. That old Hamer as far as I know has never popped up for sale anywhere in the last 38 years. Frank spell my name wrong, not the first time that's happened. 😄
  7. I couldn't get away from that one. In his video (that could have been only 5 minutes if he didn't ramble...) he mentioned the custom Sully he had built with a similar paint job, did that one too.
  8. Last year when I was recovering my 5150 I went looking for some of that stuff and could not find any.
  9. I've had maybe 2 minutes to play it so jury is still out, taking it to band practice later this week. Only thing foot switchable are the channels.
  10. I always liked it but thought it was a bit lacking in the looks department. Had a friend that works for a well regarded boo-teek amplifier company recover it, I think it's a big improvement. Also just picked up a used Ceriatone JCM52 and promptly changed out the logo badge.
  11. My 1992 Sunburst (what year did they change the model name to Studio Custom?) came with a SD Custom Custom bridge/59 neck.
  12. Went from "Played out with it for a year"/was in a bar fight to "Never liked this type of tremolo system with locking nut so didn't play it much. " Sure Jan.
  13. "Glitter"? More GC dumbassery. 😄
  14. You can find Duncan Powerstage 700s (rackable) used for just a little over $500, I like mine.
  15. https://jumpshare.com/s/Yn68mVRWuaBBGcoXInfR
  16. Also used in the Ibanez Destroyers that the OCD Van Halen fanbois have driven the prices of through the roof.
  17. I was about to to half jokingly comment that it probably used to be his, joke's on me. 😄
  18. That would be Buffalo Butt Bold Italic.
  19. Biggest Irish goodbye in rock n roll. No formal announcement, just went away. FIFY And when I saw them on the Bitchin' tour she sounded great.
  20. I bought one of those at a pawn shop in the mid 90s, refinished it though. Still have it even though I could never get it set up worth a shit.
  21. Whatever the entry level Yamaha acoustic was in 1982, my mother insisted I learn how to play a "normal" guitar first. A year later I got a Memphis Strat copy and a Marshall Lead 12 combo.
  22. Obviously recovered, personally I think it's almost as cool as Cajun Boy's 5150 that was recovered in basketball rubber if anyone remembers that. Early block letter version that the EVH fanbois claim is the best 🤷🏼‍♂️ if that matters to you. Local amp tech went through it a couple weeks ago to give a once over and a cleaning. This thing sounds pretty damn great. My ears say keep it but it's too loud and too heavy for an aging Stike plus the sale will help fund a new transmission for my old 240Z. As I mentioned it's heavy and I really don't want to ship but could be coerced into it. $1400
