  1. The guitar is all original. And the Chap is on the Hamer Blog right now. The entry is from February so nothing new as of late. I will gladly post pics here when it is finished.
  2. Keeping the Superpro - at least for now.
  3. Yah that Tally is hot. Did you get that from a place in Raleigh NC?
  4. Yah I have heard them live - they are very good. Didn't you guys open for them David? I might actually go to this concert too.
  5. Got ya covered Steve. Let me know if I can help.
  6. The bridge looks cool but I can not get over the logo...
  7. That sounds like a rocking good time! How did it play and sound?
  8. This is getting really good. Keep it coming guys...
  9. I was reading about your Floyded studio on an older post and that you had them make the guitar thick like a Les Paul. That is a sersiously sweet guitar man. Seriously. I would love to have something like that. Does the thickness impact the tone any in your opinion? I will share a nugget on my Chap thats being made - it will be quite thick, according to Jamie H at KMC it will be Les Paul thick. I think from a tone stand point, that would add another element of cool.
  10. The other thread here got me thinking of which Hamer's might be considered the most unique or "highly custom" to be made. Would love to hear what has been made or is being made.
  11. Did Vandenberg ever record anything with Whitesnake? Vai filled in for him on their Slip of the Tongue CD... Yes, he recorded the Restless Heart album which was a heavy blues based album - it was pretty cool with a nod to early Whitesnake and, to a degree, Led Zeppelin. He also recorded Starkers In Tokyo which was an acoustic performance with him and Coverdale. A pretty interesting album, which may give a glimpse as to what Vandenberg would have sounded like recording the Slip of the Tongue album, is the Manic Eden album which featured Vandenberg, Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge with some dude from the group Little Ceasar singing (didn't much care for his vocals). That album is pretty raw and in your face.
  12. Mine comes from 2 words I used in a sentence to describe the music of the band I was in at the time: "A great big blast o' cool feeling"! Looks kinda silly now that I look back on it...lol
  13. Very well executed...The riffs take me back to british metal and are spectacular. You guys are sickly talented.
  14. ah, you beat me to it. there's been some greats from NC - jimmy herring audley freed tal farlow I probably like Audley the most...I used to enjoy watching him and Chris Jennings play in Sidewinder back in the late 80's. They complemented each other well. I know I am going to sound late here but I was watching the Black Crowes open for Lenny in Irvine CA back in 2000 and remember the guitarist sounded much better than I remember - especially when he cranked out the "Whole Lot of Love" solo. Found out later it was Audley. Couldnt tell at the time because I was way in the back.
  15. Another NC boy playing wild geetar ---
  16. What do you mean by "downward pressure"?
  17. I would say definately, Elduave and I learned with my custom order, there arent too many things Hamer will not do - notable exceptions of course are Glen Tipton's unusual shaped guitar and maybe a couple of others. As you may know, there are a few dealers on the board that will help any of us place orders, I have had great results thus far with Elduave. Let's get these custom orders going!
  18. I think 3 months might be about right for most custom orders. The build time for mine will be longer. It is an exciting process ordering and then waiting. This should be an interesting next few months seeing some of these custom orders roll out of the shop. I can not wait to see mine and the rest of the cool guitars they are producing.
  19. In general or for one of our guitars?
  20. I have a Ferrari Red Steve Stevens II (sustain block,,,,and many other goodies) in the works through BCR. I have no idea whether they've started it or not. It's going to be way over the top. That sounds awesome! I love the SS II - what details can you give us on the features?
  21. I have a custom order in for a Hamer Chaparral Custom Custom Custom that I placed with Elduave at Rocketeria. I believe all woods and parts are in now... As far as I can tell, they are there, ready and waiting for our orders.
  22. In 1986, at the age of 14, I went to the noted local guitar shop with my pop to pick out the guitar I wanted for Christmas. I owned a black Washburn V that I would use to trade in on whatever we selected. I was tinkering with some of the used guitars and spotted a used cream colored Kramer Pacer with black hardware that had been in the shop for a while. I picked it up and played it thinking "yah that's the one". It was cool, played and sounded well and wasn't too expensive. In the meantime, my pop was asking the shop owner what he recommended in terms of quality, sound and the all the rest - basically what was the top of the line he had in stock. We were directed to the brand new Hamers, namely a brand new Hamer Chaparral Custom. I remember looking at that guitar saying to myself "that is awesome and there is no way I am getting that guitar for Christmas". We chatted with the owner a little while longer and then left with my thoughts centered squarely on how cool I was gonna to look and sound with my new Kramer Pacer. Needless to say I was very excited at the thought of my first real guitar. Christmas couldn't come quick enough for this 14 year old. So Christmas morning rolls around and my brother and I get up early to rush into the kitchen where the Christmas tree was. I spotted the case for my guitar and hurried to place it on the table so I could open it, noticing the guitar case had been neatly decorated with bows covering the branding on the case. So I open the case and I guess you know what was staring at me from inside...Let's just say that I was the luckiest and happiest 14 year old in Winston Salem that morning... For those who care to know, the shop was Sam Moss guitars and here is that beauty that I still own to this day...
  23. Ahh yes, one of my personal favorites...
  24. I like this one better.
  25. Wow, this is a spirited discussion! All I can say is that I am glad that Hamer decided to build a Custom Chaparral Custom for me, so I placed the order last week. I was under the impression they would not build one, nor would they allow it to be customized. I am glad that is not the case. Why they wouldn't entertain this before may be anyone's best guess. Glad that we can all get what we want from Hamer now! Tea anyone?
