  1. I wrote and recorded my submission summer 2020 at my cabin with... 2005 IMac with GarageBand straight into the sound card with TascamPorta Studio 4 tracker as mixer. All noises real instruments played by me, no punches, with the most valuable piece of gear being my Hamer Duotone p-90 played through an original Line 6 POD... taking lofi into the 2020s!!! turn it up!!! I love the tracks, great work everyone!!
  2. I urge anyone who doesn't care about the RnR Hall of Fame to do the right thing... and vote for the Replacements. It's the ultimate FU.
  3. bummer... I have a gig down in Hastings that night.
  4. My new obsession is "Sweet Child of Vine" brewed by the Fulton Brewery. A bit less hoppy than your normal IPA, I love hoppy but this stuff is like crack... http://www.fultonbeer.com based on the story of how they were founded it also draws some minor comparisons to Hamer??
  5. A student forgot their giant heavy backpack in the media center a few yards from my desk and it pisses me off that the first thing I think is to wonder why it is there and what is inside... answer, books and folders.
  6. Maybe I could just send my Kindle and you'all could sign that? Creating problems for the HFC since 1999.
  7. If I download it on my Kindle, can I get it digitally signed? let me know what the postage is for that.
  8. I... just... can't... help.... myself... from computer history website cited above... the year 1990... " Microsoft released Windows amid a $10 million publicity blitz.... ...As a result, PCs moved toward the user-friendly concepts of the Macintosh, making IBM and IBM-compatible computers more popular. " from the Wikipedia page I cited: " Beginning in 1979, started by Steve Jobs and led by Jef Raskin, the Apple Lisa and Macintosh teams at Apple Computer (which included former members of the Xerox PARC group) continued to develop such ideas. The Macintosh, released in 1984, was the first commercially successful product to use a multi-panel window GUI. " Steve Jobs Time Magazine cover 1982 Bill Gates Time Magazine cover 1984 sorry, Gates does not begat Jobs, he took an idea and made it more available, no doubt.
  9. All in good fun. Jobs, Superman, Coke, the Beatles, Chevy and of course Hamer for the win.
  10. 100% agree that sending the purple guitar to Roots guy, from the entire HFC, would be a cool move.
  11. Just saying Jobs had it before Gates, as it seemed earlier posts suggested otherwise. Of course Gates did more with it at the time... and he had more billions to prove it.
  12. Kiz, way off topic but... "In 1988, Apple sued Microsoft for copyright infringement of the LISA and Apple Macintosh GUI. The court case lasted 4 years before almost all of Apple's claims were denied on a contractual technicality. Subsequent appeals by Apple were also denied. Microsoft and Apple apparently entered a final, private settlement of the matter in 1997." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_graphical_user_interface The Windows concept was lifted from Apple which lifted it from Xerox. Job's "mistake" in the early days was not licensing the GUI OS it was developing to other hardware makers which Gates did gladly. I think it is safe to say that without the Windows OS Microsoft would have been a successful software company but maybe not "world changers". p.s. period.
  13. Jobs changed the world, Fender changed music... regardless of the inevitable distortions, right or wrong, long from now they will be remembered for what they made and not how they made it... period.
  14. I love that idea... I'll buy an HFCer a beer too... Famous Volcanoes plays here soon... June 4th - Acadia Cafe' - Minneapolis June 18th - Taix 321 Lounge - Los Angeles June 20th - Grand Ol'e Echo - Los Angeles we likely have a short set at the HFC jam June 12th too but for that maybe HFCers should by me a beer...
  15. When I was in college, and poor, and just learning guitar my then roommate borrowed me his no name knockoff Les Paul and a cheap amp that he had gotten many years prior, during his I want to be a rock star period... probably from Sears... very cool looking equipment but after considerable bedroom jamming the guitar basically fell apart in my hands one day... I think it was built for show, or very low hours... I gave it back with two missing tuning pegs and one very "just hanging there" pick-up... I told him it was in rough shape, but I don't think he ever opened the case. A few years later he gave me the amp, 8 watts of pure solid state power... I wish I had that guitar too, oh what I could do with that now that I know a few more things...
  16. I can help with this one, singing harmony with ya, bass or guitar...
  17. I will be in the OC room singing Woody Guthrie songs, just me and my guitar.
  18. I'm in ifn' you need me!! Detroit huh? Muse?
  19. I think I can speak for Bruce in saying that we should have plenty of sound back-up opportunities for this event. I always considered Sir Dan more of a spiritual leader so that will be a little harder to replace. I won't pile on though, family is always first. you WILL be missed but we WILL rock on.
  20. I know I can speak for everyone here in MN, or coming here... we are looking forward to meeting you!! AMAZING guitars by the way!!
  21. Sounds like the wheels are turning!!! this is going to be good!!!!!!
  22. Flights starting March 2009, one way price as low as $69. although I bet Thunder would have more fun carpooling with Dave and Chris...
  23. I think Dan was just trying to get a vowel into the name... I'm thinking HFC INTERNATIONAL Convention. or HIC.
  24. National Convention - I REALLY like the sound of that.
