  1. Nice pics. I'd love to see some video clips. Great looking bass!
  2. I know the feeling. I went to a gathering of about 10 guys who all showed up with Ron Thorn guitars. I brought my tort bound Spruce topped Superpro. Everyone one set out their guitars for everyone else to play and I don't think anyone bothered to even glance at my Hamer. I'll admit the Thorns are very cool guitars, but its not like I brought a Squire or something, I brought a beautiful handmade guitar that sounds great.
  3. Sending out special holiday wishes to all our courageous men and women in service of our country. Be safe.
  4. I've posted about this before and its nothing that HFC members do not already know, but I am again amazed at the lukewarm reception that used Hamers seem to receive. A member of the HFC has had their beautiful Talladega for sale on the Gear Page for $1,800.00 for days and days. This week, a sweet looking Danocaster Tele was listed and sold for about $1,650 within hours with one or two backup buyers in the waiting. The thread for the Danocaster continued for a day after the sale with people expressing remorse for missing the sale. I have never played a Danocaster, and from looks and what I have read they seem like fine T and S style guitars, so I am in no way bashing that brand. But I've owned six USA Hamers and know the quality to be as good as anything anywhere so it amazes me to see a $1,650 Danocaster fly off the shelf while Tally priced down to $1,800 sits and sits on the shelf.
  5. The clean playing he does at the beginning of the superpro demo reminded me a little bit of the great Pat Martino. I was wondering if those were the Duncan customs in that Monaco because they were uncovered in the video??? Great playing though! When I bought it the pickups were (and still are) WCR Godwood/Goodwood. I think they were installed by another HFC'er who may have sold it to Jack. I think Jack played it through a variety of amps in the videos. I like his Jetter GSR videos.
  6. I was told that the Spruce top Superpro that I bought earlier this year from a fellow HFC'er was the same one Jack plays in his SheetsofSound demo's on youtube. It certainly looks exactly the same and I absolutely love it. Wish I could play as cool as he does on some of those clips.
  7. Welcome. Nice rig indeed.
  8. But why do so many Fender clones (Suhr, Tom Anderson, Nash, etc.) garner so much more mystique when Hamer also builds such a great quality guitar and doesn't garner the same mystique? Every time I see someone who wants to trade a guitar, what they seem to want in return is a Fender clone Strat or Tele valued at a very high price.
  9. I agree with karmma1 about quality assurance. I have bought all of my Hamers without ever playing any of them first. I always trusted the quality and set up.
  10. But how do you explain that half of the gear page posts involve high priced "Nash" type guitars. Everyone wants a Nash, k-line, Rice, etc. I have seen a few new Hamers in stores, I have never seen any of those brands in any music store in my area.
  11. I am still amazed at how often I will see Hamers go for so much less than a bolt-on strat style guitar or even a Partscaster that someone assembled in their basement from various suppliers. Tonight, I watched a beautiful Hamer Monaco Elite sell for less than $800.00 on ebay, while there are scores of bolt-on guitars of all types on TGP that seem to sell for more than $1,000.00, much more for the more respected builders. (I already have a Superpro and I had set $750 as my limit on the Elite - now I regret not bidding a little higher.) Although I have never had the pleasure to actually play a Tom Anderson, Suhr, Grosh, etc., I am sure they build really great guitars, but Hamer also seems to consistently build very good guitars and just doesn't always seem to get the same street cred. On Harmony Central, you may read some complaints about the SD pickups in certain Hamer models, but Hamers always score huge numbers overall and especially on the build quality and set-up direct from the factory. Why do you think Hamer doesn't seem to carry the mystique of certain other names (many of which are much newer in the business)?
  12. Love the pic. Those are some big soles.
  13. I think the axe-fx is really cool, but I don't have the skills to justify an axefx, nor do I want to spend that much $$ right now on such a unit. As a compromise, I just bought a Digitech RP-1000 and it has a lot to offer for only $500.00. It can be used with an amp, in stereo, direct to the board, etc. Some of the amp models sound great and the effects work really well. I am sure it does not touch the axe-fx, but at 1/4 of the price I think it is something to consider.
  14. +1 on the foil. My Daytona is super quiet after my foil shielding. +1 on the gloves. I couldn't play for three days after the project because I had sliced the tip of every finger with the copper foil. The Stew Mac foil has conductive tape and was very easy to use (except for cutting my fingers). The conductivity (is that a word?) was perfect.
  15. I think StewMac has it. I recently used their copper foil tape to shield a Daytona and it worked great.
