So @murkat has suggested to me multiple times to buy a power station. I really really didn’t want to spend the money on one. I finally broke down and bought the single channel version. I plugged it into my rig and it took me less than two minutes to dial it in , it sounded great. So great that I pulled the 50 watt JMP out and  plugged it in. I hit that first chord and was floored. That Marshall on 10 into a 1265 there just isn’t anything like it. Then I engaged the power station, flipped the switched to flat, adjusted the presence and bass and went back and forth a few times til the PS disappeared and then down with the volume. Amazing, it works like nothing else I’ve tried with that old Marshall!

It is definitely a very different concept than the usual attenuator, that's for sure. What size cabinet are you driving with it?

Right Now a small 1x12 with an 1982 Celestion G1265. I would like to get a Marshall Cab at some point, but the 70’s 2x12’s are crazy expensive. I went to purchase a 2196 2x12 in 2020 and ended up coming home with a 64 SG Jr. I’m not sad, that guitar is amazing.

I gave up on Marshall cabs a while ago.. I just have a few Avatar speakers. This reminds me I need to really put the new can I got through its paces.

You can still find older 1936 cabs at reasonable prices. I have 800-era cabs in every 12"configuration:  1933 (ported 1x12 with a WGS Invader 50), 1936 (original G12T-75 drivers), and a 1960A (also original G12T-75 speakers). They all sound great, and the much-maligned 75 is a far better and more versatile speaker than many cork sniffers opine.

I've never understood the G12T-75 dislike. That was pretty much the standard speaker, used by lots of bands and on lots of recordings. Rivera had a higher power 85W version of it made that was used in all their combos and cabinets for years.
