cmatthes Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 I’m desperately trying to justify another Couch strap…I already have a ridiculous number of those now! 3 Quote
santellavision Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 I have one of these. They are totally 'Groovy'! Quote

The Shark Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 I just bought one of Mark Younger Smith's "Smith Straps". Real pricey, but the best leather strap I've purchased in years. A second is on the way for a gift. 1 Quote
ChugD Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 I couldn't resist the oxblood. Classy. Thanks for the heads up. 5 Quote
crunchee Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 Do Couch straps have any vinyl in them? I've seen what old straps composed of vinyl can do to a nitrocelluose finish, vinyl kinda acts like a solvent and turns a nitro finish to goo. 1 Quote

Many of their straps are made from NOS, vintage car upholstery, so, yes, vinyl everywhere. I doubt they would still be doing business a decade later if their products were damaging guitars 2 Quote

I’ve got maybe 30 Couch straps, all on or in cases with that many guitars, and I’ve NEVER had any sort of negative finish reaction on anything - nitro, poly, any of it, in the 20 years I’ve been using their straps. 3 1 Quote
cornjulio Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 (edited) Thanks for the heads-up. I was not aware of Couch nor did I know they could personalize guitar straps. I ended up ordering three straps for my band as a surprise 🥸🤓😎. Edited July 10, 2024 by cornjulio 3 1 Quote

I had them do some special straps for me with some leftover 70s/80s fabric I’ve had kicking around for over 20 years - they’re awesome! 8 Quote
Jakeboy Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 I visited the Couch shop in LA several years ago…cool peeps Thre, musicians all. A small, dedicated, happy crew. I did have one nitro MJT body melt at the rear strap pin when I left a Couch strap on with the guitar in contact with the vinyl end of the strap. My fault…I knew better and forgot it for two days… I still use and love Couch straps, I just don’t leave them on a nitro guitar once I am done playing. 4 Quote
ArnieZ Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Ha and I thought couch straps were designed to play your guitar on the couch😖 1 2 Quote

I came REAL close to snagging one, but I had them make me one out of that material last summer - it’s a Racer X with a gold glitter stripe. Seems to go well with my green M-3… 2 Quote
WorstBandName Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 I must have missed this post and meant to come back. These are nice looking straps! Do they do 25% off often? Quote
bry4321 Posted July 17, 2024 Author Posted July 17, 2024 I had purchased something from them last year and got an email about this sale. It said something like "summer sale, only happens once a year" or "once this year." If you create an account there maybe they would email you next time it happens. They don't spam me -- I can't remember the last email I got from them. 1 Quote

Once a year. They run some other sales/promotions sometimes, but this is the biggest they usually offer. 2 Quote

I had some things left in my cart and their customer service extended the sale with code summer25 which was nice of them. Seems like it still works if other missed out.
