I saw him down in Helena, Arkansas before the pandemic at the King Biscuit Blues Festival. In his 80s and still phenomonally great. His albums with Clappers, Greenie, and Taylor will always rank among my fave blues-rock albums. May he RIP. What a career.  He truly loved the blues.

He knew a good guitar player when he saw one. His band was like a college for musicians who went on to do very good things.

The Beano album was one of my early introductions to the Blues. Thankfully, I got to see him play once. He was one of the bands playing at the grand opening of the Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale along with Coco Taylor and Buddy Guy. He had Buddy Whittington on guitar at the time. What a pioneer he was. Rest in Peace.

When John Mayall was in his 80's he worked the merchandise table before the show.  Then he was quite lively on stage during his show.  Immediately after the show he would be back at the merchandise table talking with everyone and signing stuff.

Beano, A Hard Road, and Crusade are magical must-haves for any Brit blues fan.
