DarkHammer Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 (edited) Guitar Center in SF just listed some cool and expensive Hamer guitars. Someone sold their collection to them? Steve Haynie Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 The San Francisco store has some great Hamer guitars for someone with deep pockets! 2 Quote
Steve Haynie Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Lemme win that lottery! I'll take 'em all! 1 Quote
Dutchman Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Looks like someone kicked the bucket and his herd is going to market. There'd be a lot fewer of them if we could take them with us! Quote
P Franco Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 There was a black 1982 Standard (looks like it’s gone now). It had a pick guard and no binding which didn’t look quite right to me. Wonder if the pick guard was added later 🤷♂️ Quote

IF anybody here buys from that GC store, beware of their ability (or more importantly, inability) to pack for safe shipping... Edited August 9, 2024 by singlehum 4 1 Quote
BadgerDave Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Anyone know the story on the "MYS"? That's a new one to me. A MYStery, if you will. 😁 2 Quote
soli'd Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 I was just about to ask about that MYS thing... Quote

soli'd Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Looks like a mashup of Monaco and Watson. With strips of white tape for fret markers. Quote
HamerCustomEr Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Wow, the elusive 7-string Maestro! $4000 seems like a good deal for that one. GC claims "Great" condition. (Nobody claimed "Great" for the photo quality... ever.) Quote

Get "the book" I believe its in there. According to The Book, four of the custom designs were built for Billy Idol guitarist Mark Younger Smith. I'm not certain if any others were ever made. The context and mash up of design elements remind me of the customs built for Steve Brown of Trixter. Edited August 9, 2024 by Biz Prof 3 Quote
topekatj Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Why not just list them here and cut out the middle man? 1 Quote

The Shark Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 I almost traded for the Mark Younger Smith model. Really cool. And priced right, in my opinion. 1 Quote

DarkHammer Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 I'd be curious to know how much GC paid for these guitars. 50%, 40%, less? Quote
