Is that the same guitar as shown in the photo with Rick?

Provenance

young-nerd-boy-folding-arms-and-blank-ex

Thank you! I wasn't sure and now thanks to you I have it straight.

It's just like that town.

Provenance, Rhode Island.

I meant the inscription on plate from Rick Nielsen. Not O'Connor. On my Dragon skin O'Connor signed it in a larger dark spot.

Man, I confused myself and everyone else!

No wonder my boss rolls his eyes at me when I talk!

I'm googling 3 sellable words for now on!

I picked this one up off of GC site 2 days ago, does anyone here know anything about it?

Curious why you returned it?

Where did you see that?  I don’t think that this was Jim O’Connor’s work.

Correct!  It was actually John Connor, but he had to stop custom paint orders on account of some more important things:

It wasn’t what he paid for.

yes, it was listed again at GC yesterday. With GC you only get 3 days to return Vintage instruments, it looks like he did on the last day to his local GC in FL. It was gone by end of the day, someone probably bought it.

Or the lack of "providence" caused the consignor to pull it.  Sorry, I had to.

So this is a clone, not made by hamer then? I’m confused now.

It may have been a Hamer at first, but that isn’t how it left the factory.  It was reworked, checkerboarded, inlaid, etc. I believe at some point between 1993-1996, by a west coast custom shop.

Regardless, they did a fantastic job on the guitar, and it’s the 3rd best replica of #0152 out there, but it isn’t from 1980 and wasn’t what the purchaser thought he was getting.

You're awesome!

Those three sellable words always screw me up!

At least it is a real word.

providence

noun
  1. the protective care of God or of nature as a spiritual power.
"they found their trust in divine providence to be a source of comfort"

I guess the person who bought the return in FL believes in God to protect his purchase as real.
    What about the Inscription!?!
    Was that fake too?
I'll have to see if "MARK YOUNGER SMITH" isn't airplane model decals collected over decades.

All us ppl in FL are big dummies.
Effing hurricanes, flesh eating virus, fire ants, scorpions, 3 species of rattlesnakes (typically), Boa Constrictors, Rock Pythons, Reticulated Pythons, Cotton Mouths, Copperheads, Coral snakes, Alligators, crocodiles, many species of sharks, diseased mosquitoes, lion fish, Dirt Dabbers,  and neighbors all wanting to kill you... or just rip you off.

Time to get in my spider hole and hide.

At this juncture, it might be the lack of prominence.  Or protestants. Or protagonists.

I digress.

How do you even return a $10K guitar?

Imagine the look at GC sales clerk's face when he saw refund amount he had to process!!! I bet the entire store came by just to see this for themselves.

I'm a lifelong Floridian planted here at five months old.  I'm no "big dummy".  The dangers are real and I've experienced them.  "Providence" is a boulevard around these parts (Deltona).

I love FL. Joking about the dummy part.

Even though Ian nearly wiped us out here in Ft. Myers.

It killed our two cars and things we could replace.

Others lost everything.

You're "hurricane tested".  Folks that haven't experienced hours of winds topping 80mph and gusts of 110 to 120mph have no idea about that kind of "fun".  We had four in 2004.  Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne all in six weeks.  Charlie felled my largest Oak and we had no electricity or cable (cable far more important) for about three of those six weeks.  The only time in my life when I woke up standing next to my bed.  I have the whole house generator now.

Yes... I was here for all those. Transplanted 1996.

Charlie changed the face of Sanibel Island. All the very old trees felled and the same in lakes park.

Ian took out all the trees between our Condo and Fort Myers Beach. The Sea Breeze has moved and the edge of the daily storm are now right over our area instead of 3 miles inland.

Very odd. No not climate change just no tall builds and trees effecting the wind.

Coincidentally, Mrs. BadgerDave and I had tickets to see Joan Jett at the new Rockford Hard Rock Casino last night.  The place is full of Cheap Trick (and especially Rick Nielson) memorabilia.  This one was prominently displayed.

I've survived about 15 major hurricanes in my lifetime in Florida.  A dozen more "events" according to Wikipedia.  Some worse than others.  No worse now than my childhood.  Not political.  Just my recollection.
