UNPLAYED

then...

"the playability is fabulous"

Anyone wanna explain how that's possible?

And this:

Brand New (New)

Brand New items are sold by an authorized dealer or original builder and include all original packaging

So this is an 'authorized dealer'? And it's never been sold before? Why the hell is it in someone's yard then?

Wouldn’t this have been played at the factory?
Just asking…

If he was an exec., former dealer, or employee at Hamer, then he might be quoting the setup guy regarding the action/playability.  But yeah he should be categorizing that as New Old Stock.  That thing looks like the case was never even taken out of the shipping carton.

Agree, and it certainly appears legit (and very fucking nice). But yeah, when people word things that way, I know what they mean, but the words they are using imply something else entirely. Which obviously irritates me. 🤑

Still would love to get it. But I won't. No more space.

Yes, and I think it's always a good idea to add a back story to what is being sold so that it looks legit to the average buyer.  I Love the grain pattern on that one.  It looks like it has mineral streaks in it.

Edited to note:

I spoke too soon regarding the back story. Here's lots of info on the seller which would explain things:

The tailstop is saying something else!

The seller has an impeccable reputation and will forget more about Hamers than most here will ever learn...mostly, because he was a top Hamer dealer AND worked at Hamer for many years, until the bitter end.

Although US currency is devalued, I feel I got a good deal for #19 of 96 built, not 100, from the same batch. I love prime numbers.

Slightly less than the one for sale.

Same thing was said. Unplayed. NOS display, absolutely pristine, kept in top floor Museum for display only. Except for the same issue with the faded tailstop.

I still have the original but I found a Kluson Zinc tailstop new in gold.

I also purchased a vintage Hamer fitted case with Red Lining that supports all the pressure points, instead of all the weight on the far point in a rectangle case.

Looks and sounds amazing.

Who ever buys this is getting a once in a lifetime guitar.

But that's just my opinion.

I made a comment reflecting that "unplayed" comment. I received a response stating that the strings had been changed, so, naturally it was played for that reason. I recognized the name of the respondee as an authority and former Hamer employee of high regaard.

I'm with you. Words have meaning, even if those wielding them use them carelessly.
Of course he meant that the condition of the guitar is of one that had not been played, but you can't say that it was unplayed.
That's literally impossible.  And I'm purposely using one of the most carelessly used words, "literally," because I know what the word means.

I find (just like you did) my use of the word these days requires a qualification to let the listener (or reader) know that I know what the word really means and that I am using it commensurate with that meaning. Vapid people make the world a worse place.

I get this kind of word usage scrutiny from my wife the paralegal.  I come here to avoid that shit...
