tommy p Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 (edited) I have an aneurysm (not in my brain, thankfully). Surgery tomorrow. 9/19 update: the doctor said the surgery went well and I actually got to come home yesterday afternoon! I had a kidney transplant back in 2005, and I've had other surgeries for things like broken bones before but I have never been as anxious about a surgery as I was about this one. Of course having two strokes in the last six months contributed to that. I had been worried sick since finding out Monday about the aneurysm, so when I got home I iced it, took a painkiller, and had a nice de-stressing nap. They did a ridiculously thick dressing on it that I have to leave on for five days and then I have a check up in two weeks. I have some soreness in both my calves and my lower back. I know that coming out of anesthesia completely takes a few days so it might just be something to do with that. Anyway, I feel really good and I appreciate all of your kind words and supportive posts and messages. I've had a really rough run lately and you guys have made me feel better. I live to fight another day. Edited September 19, 2024 by tommy p 1 13 Quote

tbonesullivan Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Good luck!! My grandfather had an Aortic Aneurysm that made his voice get very raspy. Unfortunately he was in his 80s by the time it was found, so putting a sleeve over his aorta was no longer an option. Glad that they found this in time! Quote
