That’s a screaming deal/very significant reduction in sale price. Makes me wonder what’s the catch…. 🤔 I'll bet it's overstock. I remember when they blew out the USA pro mods dirt cheap ($500-600) back in the 2010's I seem to recall people keeping the necks and parting out the rest. Quote

Metlking Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 I could use a decent guitar with a Floyd type so I find this pretty tempting! 1 Quote

DarkHammer Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 (edited) wow, this looks tempting! Striped ones are still almost $2K. Is there a quick way to paint one of these into a striped version? I've got some masking tape and spray paint, I'd like to know how Eddie did this. It looks like you need to get white version and apply tape and spray with black and then with red. DarkHammer Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 I found instructions on how to paint Franken Stripes, it looks like you need to get black version, then apply white and finally red colors. https://www.stewmac.com/video-and-ideas/online-resources/learn-about-instrument-finishing-and-finish-repair/paint-your-own-frankenstrat/?srsltid=AfmBOopiYFdjKvQMbgYw8EcWhIIAgg2yRaVZ5YYLXGcVb9RAOFE96Z_p Could be a fun project! 2 Quote
diablo175 Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 I snagged one of the Charvel ash San Dimas they were blowing out for $400 on Adorama, a while back. I bought it fully expecting to try and see if I could get on with a 22 fret and if not, sell it for slight profit. I made a little over $300 on it a month back. Tempted to try my luck again with one of these Frankies. 2 Quote
JustKid Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 By the way I bought one, as I mentioned earlier. What can I tell, it's not bad, but...for me personally - do I need a mexican guitar with non floating floyd, and a neck, that needed to be shimmed in order to create a bit of an angle, as floyd wouldn't go any lower and strings were too high? Just because it said EVH? If anyone considering buying it, I'd say go for Charvel, and, if you lucky, Jap version. The funny part was returning it. Decided to do it in person. Came to the store, obviously, they did not have it on display, so no one knows how it looks. Clerk looks at me and goes - you say you didn't play it? Me: Of course not! He went to call the manager, and this manager guy also tried to give me hard time because of the beat up looks, like I played the shit out of it. So we had some fun after he looked at it on the pictures. My view - not worth it. 4 1 Quote
