Kris Kristofferson was on TV or in magazines all my life.  There is no way someone could grow up in America without knowing his name and hearing a song he wrote.

did you know he was a helicopter pilot & qualified as a ranger in the 8th infantry? he was a Capitan and taught at West Point too.  born into a military family but eventually left that life to be a vagabond minstrel.... eventually it worked out

Sad, he was a true legend. He was of Swedish descent, his grandparents moved from Sweden to America. He still has family here.

My older brother took me to see "The Sailor Who Fell From Grace with the Sea" when it first came out, probably by accident.  

Made a big impression.  

Despite that, I've always had a favorable impression of Kris Kristopherson.  He probably deserved it.

I was looking at McPherson guitars at Westwood music in LA when He and his wife came in to pickup his guitar. Fred Graciously introduced me to them. I bought a booming Santa Cruz instead.
