crunchee Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 (edited) No affiliation with either guitar. This 'Special' is an FM model, now SOLD according to the DGS website: (SOLD) Special '93 – Dave's Guitar Shop (davesguitar.com) EX800 Explorer '78 – Dave's Guitar Shop (davesguitar.com) Edited October 3, 2024 by crunchee 2 Quote
slickwillie2 Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Remember when we used to flip FM Specials back and forth 20 years ago for $550. I do. OUCH. 3 Quote
slickwillie2 Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 (edited) And... Last week I was looking at a used Gibson '50's Les Paul at Guitar Center and hating the finish. Thinking what I really want is an old Hamer FM Special with a vintage neck carve. Then this turns up. A lot of money for an FM Special. Still less than a used Les Paul. It's bucket list time for me. I bought the guitar. Thanks Crunchee Edited October 3, 2024 by slickwillie2 12 2 Quote

They're fairly good quality but IMO that price is more indicative of that particular model's (copy of Hamer 0000) scarcity than it genuinely being a $1750 guitar. That said, I've seen them sell for much more. 2 1 Quote

I was watching this one because of the larger (0.875" first fret) neck, knowing all along I cannot get along with the body shape, but I digress. 4 Quote
Drew816 Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 The perfect guitar, and bad freakin timing. After taxes and shipping about $2k for me; ugh... FFFUUUU$$$$KKKK! Quote
RobB Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 (edited) M/M had a white REX-80 a while back (in much better shape) for a little less. I’m happy with my NAVIGATOR EX, so I passed. I’m in the planning stages for a Japan trip for next year. I’m terrified, because I’m sure I’ll come home with $30k in guitar debt. Edited October 4, 2024 by RobB 3 Quote
