zorrow Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 I’ve noticed some old Standards come with those “rhythm and treble” rings which are very present in Gibson guitars —Les Paul, SG, Explorer… For Hamer guitars, which models used them? Was there any Monaco or other model, aside from the Standard, that had them? Also, when did they stop using them on Standards? PS: I got me a vintage ring of those at a local pawnshop (please see the attached picture), just because the price was right. I’m wondering if I should install it on my black 4-digit Standard. Any thoughts on that too? 3 Quote
cmatthes Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 Only on the early 4-digit Standards. 3 Quote
crunchee Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 It's non-invasive and easy enough to install, and you can remove them just as easily if you change your mind. If you like the look, do it! 1 Quote

Hackubus Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 I could never think of anything clever enough that wouldn't be cringy after a little while, so I never went that route. 1 Quote

I have one that says Bruce Wayne/Batman. Of course, I also have one that says Spit/Swallow, so don't judge by me. 7 Quote

zorrow Posted October 25, 2024 Author Posted October 25, 2024 This is my entire “restoration kit” for Kev’s Standard. Given I no longer have to keep it to his specs, as it’s now unlikely Hell will ever play in my town, I’m going to give her the “4-digit look” back: 9 Quote
