This guitar had an old Super Distortion in it when I got it, also a double creme, (cream?).  Probably 20 years ago I put a black/black BBQ bucker in there and was happy. Not long ago tested out an '83 Shaw paf, it's good but I dunno.  All my other Hamers are mostly all original, so this one gets the pickup swaps.

I was going through my parts drawer (it's like an early Christmas in there!), found a DiMarzio with 3 wires (black, white and plain, wrapped in a single black insulation layer), around 7.7 ohms (simple DiMarzio Paf?).

Sounds great so far, and maybe it's time to bring this look back to this guitar, what was a very dated look in the early 2000s might be nicely retro today.

if it works and is reasonably balanced you are gold.  I did one long ago and the super D blew the single coil out of the water... terrible mismatch / 50 years later I found the right place for it

I think all of those SS IIs came with the 17K Slammer humbucker. At least mine did. Great pickups, for being so hot.

Beautiful guitar and color! If the old SD needs a new home let me know

I'm going to have to try that one out again before too long.

I've found that if I dive bomb the trem and stick my wallet under the gap to keep the strings loose, I can get the pickup out from under the strings without loosening any strings,  a very easy guitar to do pickup swaps on.

The copper paint seems to have real copper in it: where there's clearcoat or paint damage, there is green corrosion on the paint at the edges of those damaged spots.

Floyd's are really easy for changing pickups! That's one plus for them
