Citrus Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 (edited) Going thru my "stuff " drawer and found these. Project that never got started? Have a fiddle i can try putting them in...? Obviously a DiMarzio, but what model?? Next, and Bill Lawrence?? Model? Any idea on value for these? Thanks Edited December 14, 2024 by Citrus Spelling Quote
Hackubus Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Any idea of the output on the Dimmy? That would be the tell. Definitely a Bill Lawrence there. Probably a 500XL. Those come in odd sizes. The ones I've messed with required a special pickup ring and it's still a bit smaller than the standard humbucker sized ring we're all used to. And thus ends the extent of all my pickup knowledge, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. 2 Quote
Jimbilly Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 The DiMarzio is a "100" , -actually probably a DP100 Super Distortion? Yeah, measure the resistance with an ohm meter. I have two DiMarzio's that look like that: one is a bit under 8ohms which I believe makes it a PAF. the other measures 13+, which makes it a Super Distortion. Should sound great either way. 1 Quote
velorush Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Doesn't the adjustable hex poles on both coils in that vintage = Super Distortion? Had a pair of those in my Gretsch Beast BITD. 1 Quote

Should sound awesome 1 Quote
Biz Prof Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 That Bill Lawrence unit looks like a L-550XL; essentially a soapbar sized humbucker. 3 Quote

butcher Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 I think the DiMarzio is a Dualsound if it has a 4 wire lead. If not, a Super Distortion. 3 Quote
ZR Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Dp100 was the DiMarzio super distortion code. Not sure if they used a sticker like that or not. Dp101 was the dualsound code. What Butcher said makes sense though. 1 Quote
Citrus Posted December 20, 2024 Author Posted December 20, 2024 I think the sticker was a price tag?? Lol 1 1 Quote
ZR Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Haha! And I thought I was on to something! Quote
Jakeboy Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 That BL looks like a mini bucker sized 500L. Hopefully it is vintage, as I don’t think Bill reissued these. I am unsure if BL U.S.A. did or not. I bet it rocks. Quote
