Camstone Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Post the oldest picture of you playing a Hamer. In the summer of 1978 I went to work for Bandstand East Music in Bellevue, Washington. The following year we took in a '79 Sunburst and I fell in love and bought it. That same year, I ordered a Standard directly from Hamer and got it in the spring of 1980. I wound up working music retail till '86. So this picture of me with my Sunburst is from 1979. The picture with my Standard is from 1980. No competition, but let's see some pictures of you and your first Hamer (or it didn't happen). 11 Quote
mathman Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 This is a video screen grab from 1984 from an VCR recording. I have pictures of the bass but not many of me playing it once I got it. 11 Quote
cmatthes Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 This was taken at a NC Mountains getaway trip one winter during my college years. Brought along my Ferrari Red Floyded ‘82 Special that I got from the one and only Sam Moss in 1984 (and, of course, my Rockman): 17 Quote

shankyboy Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Here's the earliest pic of me with my first Hamer. Sometime around 1998. 13 Quote
marcnorth Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Been some years since I signed in to the site even though I still stop in every day to see what's up. I still have 3 B4M's but they just live in the cases most of the time. Here's my first Hamer bass, the so called missing Blade's bass. This was probably 1987. Anyway I hope all you guys are doing alright and everyone has a Merry Christmas! 15 Quote
velorush Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Those are fantastic! As a testament to the deeply consequential nature of my artistry, there is not on this earth one single photo of me playing guitar. Ever. In 50 years of 'opportunities.' 2 4 1 Quote

Brooks Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 My 1st Hamer was actually a Slammer Series that smoked the LP I had been playing since college, seen here in Mebane NC mid 90s; 13 Quote

cornjulio Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 2003, my first Hamer, a greenish 90s special with P90s. I saw (new) in a local shop and traded a 90s Gibson SG for it (that I had received in a trade for a painting. My friend who got thet painting is still upset about it and will mention it at least once a year). This was one of our first gigs as Se Golden Thorsten in Cologne at Stereo Wonderland. I'm sure there is a good reason for verybody in the band looking at me. I probably messed up the song (again). I later traded that for a 90s Hamer sunburst with a broken neck (unbeknownst to me) that I then took to SFO when we moved there. Got the neck fixed and sold it to someone here (full transparency included) and got Steve's b&w Special, which I sold years later and then bought back. At the moment of writing this, I own it 😉 It's gorgeous and my only hamer now. 13 Quote

hamerhead Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 First gig with the country band. My sister shows up halfway through with that sweet cowboy hat. My buddy Steve shows up and grabs the '05 Junior (near new!) while my '81 Special (far right) takes a break from it's #1 duties. There are older pictures, but from back when dinosaurs ruled the earth and film was the photo media of choice. Finding them would be one thing, scanning them is another. 8 1 Quote
BoogieMKIIA Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 From Sept 2020, I got the guitar in 2018. New to owning/playing Hamers compared to most of you even though I was aware of them for many years. DW Sound in Lexington, KY had a salmon blush Studio Custom long ago I really liked but lacked the funds to buy. 8 Quote
JohnZ Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Best fun gig ever 1992ish in K‘town on a university venue. What a wahwahwah funky time. 9 Quote
Biz Prof Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 (edited) Soundcheck at the 1996 Pigskin Pigout spring football scrimmage, East Carolina University's Dowdy-Ficklin Stadium. My college band reformed for a one-off gig at our alma mater. My corporate haircut is in full effect, as is my '93 Special. Edited December 22, 2024 by Biz Prof 12 Quote
BadgerDave Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Late 1978 or 1979. Posing with my early Sunburst with a 1 piece neck. Unfortunately, it was among those that developed a neck twist and had to be returned. Paul/Jol/Frank gave me full credit against a custom built black Standard. 12 Quote
BadgerDave Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 1981 -1984ish. This was the best sounding guitar I've ever owned. It played effortlessly and resonated like an acoustic. I don't recall what happened to it, probably traded it for some POS with zebra stripes and a Kahler 🤦♂️ 7 6 Quote
