Jimbilly Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I didn't play much guitar 'out' (or much at all) over the past 1-13 ish years, I had been using a tech21 t-60 prior to that, so no need for a pedalboard back then. I got the FlyRig a year-ish ago, started experimenting and adding to it, with pawn shop finds. Very recently I found a nice 16x22 Pedaltrain case with velco'd board, I was going to resell it (along with the pedals it came with), but started thinking it might be really handy and useful. It's battery powered, The Joyo battery pack is pretty neat, it ran great for 2 hours last night and the battery level indicator did not go below 'good'/high, - I love not having to run a power cord to it. Those are only about $65 on Amazon. The flyrig's distortion isn't my favorite, but it does work well with other drives into it, and it 'stacks' pretty well with other drive pedals. I'm really liking the Plexi deluxe. The Ekoverb is really fun, those are pretty cheap too, I like it better than the reverb in the fly rig, it has 'tap' and 'hold' which is pretty fun. I like the MXR chorus, I send that to my monitor amp (which I often mic) and the 'dry' out from the flyrig to the board. I would like to find a EX Stereo Electric Mistress to try out, I have a big old Deluxe Elect Mistress, but it's a little awkward to include with this setup. 6 Quote
tbonesullivan Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Nice! I've been "thinking" about building a pedalboard for years and keep avoiding building one. I've even got a Plethora X5 to put on it along with some drive and wah pedals, but Most likely I think a static setup for home use might be better. I don't see myself ever really traveling with one. 3 Quote
velorush Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I grabbed one of these years back (I think they've been required to rebrand them "E-Lady") and it's cheap, teeny and does the Mistress thing quite convincingly. I had an original BITD. I quit using it in the 90's and couldn't give it away. I think I might have gotten $20 - $30 for it. 2 Quote
BoogieMKIIA Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I didn’t have pedals for years but now have a Dingbat with an assortment of overdrives and modulation. It is nice to be able to get a variety of sounds from any amp and not have to turn all the way up. I’m a bit done messing with ODs at this point. How is the Plethora? Can you use it like 5 individual pedals? It will fit in the footprint of my echo, reverb, chorus and tremolo pedals. 2 Quote
Dave Scepter Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Battery packs are so much nicer than plugging into outlets... No noise!👍 1 Quote
Jimbilly Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 Tbonesullivan: it is really handy for quick setup and tear-down, other than that, not so necessary, but still fun to mess around with. My Flanger collection: I bought the BF-2 new in about '85, I'm pretty sure it was the first pedal I bought. The Ibanez is 18v, but the new Joyo battery has an 18v plug, apparently that's the model that was used on Barracuda. The EH is a 1980 model per the pots, it sounds so good, but is sometimes a little bit noisy. The Elastic Mattress is supposed to be excellent, but it's priced like it's excellent. 1 Quote

Pretty much 5 pedals in one, AND it has an insert loop as well, which if you want you can have footswitch activated, though that will take up one of the 5 pedal slots. It also has a built in tuner, and the "Sentry" noise suppressor as one of the pedal choices. I pretty much just used one of the stock "boards" loaded into it, but it can be customized quite a bit. 2 1 Quote
