I'm Edward Van Halen, BITCH!

25" scale Danelectro neck on a 25-1/2" Charvel body. Not sure if the NFT Floyd is in the, "right", place, but I'm sure he made it work somehow...

Wish that was in color so the M&Ms could be inspected...

Are you certain on the Danelectro scale length? My '56 with the same headstock was 25.5" scale.

They made them in 25," 25.5" and a ton of them in 23."

That was made in 1980 for the W&CF tour, well after the invention of the Frankenstein...

I'm not 4-Imprint certain, just from what I've read in various bios/gear blogs. I could be wrong and probably am.

I was referring to the red/white/black respray of his original Boogie Bodies build. I'm probably wrong here, too, but that's the beauty of the internet. There's always somebody who knows the truth to what one posts.

Which definitely coincides with the "no brown M&M's" rider line item.

The repaint adding red was done in early 1979. Ed was pissed because people were ripping off his B&W stripe design and decided to add the red...

IIRC, Sandoval made Randy's polka dot V using a Dano neck. Wonder which scale he used?

But didn't Ed get the black and white design from the Dils' guitarist (a Les Paul IIRC)? Amazing how much time I've "invested" reading about one guitar!

Not sure he ever admitted it, but that is a logical conclusion.

Yeah, I was way into the original and later paint schemes but was fascinated when I learned of where it *might* have come from. I don't remember where the idea came to me - maybe Joe Rogan's interview of DLR or maybe the Sunset Sound deep dives, or maybe both (or neither).

Ed's execution was different as I understand the Dil's guy's "scheme" was electrical tape whereas Ed's was paint. Of course, if I had a white Les Paul I would have absolutely opted for tape over paint no matter how "punk" I was!

Again, it's one (and one of the first) partscaster. How much has been said, written and catalogued on this one guitar? But I do enjoy learning new things about that whole concept.

We were fascinated by the whole revolution that was EVH, but what we failed to realize was it wasn't the cobbled-together guitar, it wasn't the Floyd Rose, it wasn't the Variac, it wasn't the Echoplex preamp. It was Ed. And that's the part we couldn't spend our way into obtaining!

That star body w/ the Dano head must be where the guy from Loudness (Roudness!!) got the idea

And speaking of NFT Floyds...

I have a project in progress. More on this after installation.

Floyd’s new pop-in bar/collar is genius. No slop, set loose or in place:
