RobB Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I'm Edward Van Halen, BITCH! 25" scale Danelectro neck on a 25-1/2" Charvel body. Not sure if the NFT Floyd is in the, "right", place, but I'm sure he made it work somehow... 5 Quote
RobB Posted February 21 Author Posted February 21 And speaking of NFT Floyds... I have a project in progress. More on this after installation. 4 Quote

They made them in 25," 25.5" and a ton of them in 23." 5 Quote
svl Posted February 21 Posted February 21 That was made in 1980 for the W&CF tour, well after the invention of the Frankenstein... 2 Quote

I could be wrong and probably am. 51 minutes ago, svl said: That was made in 1980 for the W&CF tour, well after the invention of the Frankenstein... I was referring to the red/white/black respray of his original Boogie Bodies build. I'm probably wrong here, too, but that's the beauty of the internet. There's always somebody who knows the truth to what one posts. 2 Quote

Ed was pissed because people were ripping off his B&W stripe design and decided to add the red... Quote

Amazing how much time I've "invested" reading about one guitar! 1 Quote

velorush Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Yeah, I was way into the original and later paint schemes but was fascinated when I learned of where it *might* have come from. I don't remember where the idea came to me - maybe Joe Rogan's interview of DLR or maybe the Sunset Sound deep dives, or maybe both (or neither). Ed's execution was different as I understand the Dil's guy's "scheme" was electrical tape whereas Ed's was paint. Of course, if I had a white Les Paul I would have absolutely opted for tape over paint no matter how "punk" I was! Again, it's one (and one of the first) partscaster. How much has been said, written and catalogued on this one guitar? But I do enjoy learning new things about that whole concept. We were fascinated by the whole revolution that was EVH, but what we failed to realize was it wasn't the cobbled-together guitar, it wasn't the Floyd Rose, it wasn't the Variac, it wasn't the Echoplex preamp. It was Ed. And that's the part we couldn't spend our way into obtaining! 2 1 Quote
Brooks Posted February 26 Posted February 26 That star body w/ the Dano head must be where the guy from Loudness (Roudness!!) got the idea 1 1 Quote

crunchee Posted February 26 Posted February 26 I wouldn't necessarily call that body shape 'star' shaped, more like a butchered Explorer type...but that's another Ed story for another time. Now this is a star shaped body: The story of Bootsy Collins' Space Bass 2 1 Quote
