I hate to see unloved Hamer's hanging in GC getting abused by 14 year old kids. Found this one yesterday and had to snatch it up. Needed lots of cleaning, but it's all original, no monkey business other than some minor dings and scratches that I was able to mostly clean up. Non -original case, but very well fitting, and looks a lot like an old Hamer case, just without the logo. Very light and resonant. I've wanted one of these for a while, and I'm thrilled to get it. Good deal too, at least by today's standards.

That was the model that made me a Hamer convert, back in '99 when I was killing time browsing a guitar shop in Chicago. Pulled it off the wall and gave it a few strums. The build quality rivaled my PRS CU24, but it just had so much more life and personality.

Funny you say that. I did the same thing way back, and thought that exact thing. It just has soul.. I don't know why I waited so long to snag one..

Sweet! I remember when I walked into guitar center and saw a cherry red p90 special hanging there, unloved. I'm glad I took it home and replaced that gaudy aftermarket switch on it. Why the hell would anyone replaced a switchcraft with some cheap POS on a guitar like a Hamer?

The case? Or the guitar? 😄

Congrats, it's a beauty

Thanks, Disturber! Can you tell I made C's in English. Although, it is the lightest most resonant case I have!😃

I’m at a point where I don’t need another guitar, but I can see an exception being made for this one!

Congrats!

Thanks Kookaburra! Exactly the way I felt when I bought it...

That was mine. I'm busily consolidating all my stuff for the move to Sweden, and dumped a few guitars at GC because

  • I've got to sell our condo, a car, six bikes, half our furniture, and also get my mom into assisted living and get her house clean and on the market in the next few months
  • It's a hassle to do all that with a job that has me on the road a lot, and still sell guitars on top
  • The HFC are all cheap bastids :D
  • I hate the Facebook Marketplace/Craigslist dance of "Will you take a pimped golf cart / Schecter with a cracked headstock / set of rims for an Acura in trade" crap
  • They had a Suhr I desperately wanted and it's 10% off if you trade in

That's a cool 25th. The Hameritis around the nut was fierce on that guitar, though. I rescued it from the original owner in St. Louis and apart from being filthy and needing a setup, it was a good guitar. Awesomely straight neck on it. I think I put an extra barrel jack in the case, as the one in there is starting to get loose. It has the original JB/59 pickups, and I got it without a case, so found a generic case that fit will, though it's not a TKL.

I'm glad it's in the family. Enjoy!

Oh man! You need my number! i know I would have paid you more than they did! You aren't kidding about the Hameritis. That one had the finish cut off on the edge with what looked like a pocket knife, and had epoxy put in its place. It was brutal. I was able to get it looking pretty good. That's a reflection in the pic. I stripped all the hardware off and cleaned and polished it in a big way. No jack in the case, but I had one. I dropped filled a bunch of dings, and now it is a different guitar. It plays and sounds great!

Good luck with your move, you definitely have your hands full! I'll take care of it, it's a keeper for me.

Dude! Nice work! Do you have any photos/videos of the process?

Thanks Geoff. I don't have any photos of the process. I'm an old dude that doesn't even carry a cell phone! I've been a repair guy for 30+ years, and I just mainly work on my own guitars now. It was really ugly though. I was glad to get it back to looking like it does for sure.
