a few sharp fret ends are easier to deal with than I had assumed

Question

I've got a couple of not Hamers that had a some sharp ends off the edge of the fingerboard, just a little bit sharp. I did some careful testing with a small rounded 'needle file' from a set of files I got from Harbor Freight years ago. It went much faster and easier than I had thought.  I don't think anyone but a real pro could tell or would care that I did it myself.

this looks like the file set I have

Hi.   My area (New Emgland) can get it during the winter.  I use a flat file with a handle. (Looks something like this….$13 or something on eBay or Amazon). It works nicely.  You have to be careful.  The high spots on the ends stops the file before it comes in contact with the finish.  (But you can easily mask if you want).   I then will go over the ends with micro mesh and Or steel wool with a fret protector.
