Nashville HFCers??

Anyone out there? I live on the West Side with my wife and kid for over a year and a half. I am originally from NJ.

I work full-time Army. I haven't been to a single performance here, except for Dora the Explorer and Incredibles on Ice; which doesn't constitute much of an itinerary.

Has anyone seen a country performer playing a Hamer??? Gibson, Tele, blah, blah, blah!

Ask Gatorbyte about HIS Fred Newell Cali.

Stunning.

Hey Mtm105, Now there is many who play hamers, In the late 80's Nashvilles number one session player Fred Newell played a couple custom cali's. Fred is now also playing a couple nights a week at opry land. But mainly sticks to steel string guitar. a good friend of mine play's bass in a band called Trick Pony. He's Endorsed by another company. But when he's at home in Nashville he breaks out a 12 string Hamer bass. You can usually catch them at the Wild Horse Saloon. Up until the last couple of years a Floyd Equiped guitar was unheard of in country music. But nowadays you see them alot. I'm going to be in Nashville in mid Aug. For Gibson ,They are haveing a Kramer convention. But I doub't that I will have any of my hamers. P.S I don't know what kind of music you like,But there's a great Rock scene still around in Nashville. You just have to do some searching. Steve. Oh , also I'm not at home so I dont have any pics of my country Cali, Available. LOL.

Not country performers, but the Shazam is out of Nashville and Hans played a Standard and their bass player had a 12 String Chap bass.

There's country music in Nashville? Sorry I hate that pop stuff they call country nowadays. Warner Hodges (formerlly?) of Jason and the Scorchers has a band called The Deciples Of Loud. Haven't heard 'em but I'd bet money it rocks like a motherfucker.

Please post those cali pics when you can - thanks!

I was in Nashville and played the road with Lonestar for the past eight years or so, still get up there alot to do session stuff and to play shpwcases, etc. I now live in Atlanta. I hate to say this, but in all my years on the road, playing all the festivals, etc. I only remember seeing one Hamer, and it was a T-51. I am a huge Hamer fan, and would always hang at the gig and check out the other bands gear and was surprised not to find more Hamers. I think that a reason for this is a lack of Artist Relations within the Country community. In nashville you have a huge fender office, which covers fender, guild, gretsch, charvel etc. and of course Gibson, which covers Gibson, Epiphone and Valley Arts. Peavey is another huge supporter of Nashville country road players. These companies are great with working with road players that are out with major acts. They are always willing to give you a great deal on the gear, maybe some freebees along the way, and will really take care of you should you have a piece go out while on the road somewhere. This can be invaluable. I know that although I may really like a particular guitar or amp, i would lean towards using a piece from one of these companies on the road and leaving the other stuff at home or in the studio. This got a little off topic, but it may be an interested side bar if nothing else.

I'll be in Nashville the week of August 15th doing some session work for a very good friend that has just been succesfull pitching some songs down there.

Looking forward to it. Studio is booked during the days so I'll be on Broadway at night checking out the talent and there is always plenty!

Yeah, but are you bringing your Hamers?

I've seen the Peavey display room at Sound Check, which is where Neil Young and Faith Hill record. Tourists won't find that place because it is inside of an industrial park. The studios look like large raquetball courts.

teleman I checked your info and you have some real dirty pedals with vintage equip., I like that!

I guess Hamer's infamous shredder image kinda deters country musicians today, image is as much influence as the music. I would believe Hamer's marketing is different today.

I'll have the HFC VI Monaco Elite with me. I'm afraid that the Tele duties my T51's used to take care of are now better serviced by a Fender Texas Tele I picked up in trade. don't know what it is about this tele but it is the best sounding tele I've ever owned or played; and believe me I've had a bunch of 'em. I just has the mojo.

In my search on a T-51, this was the first one I could find, with a Nashville mod.

I was thinking about restoring it to the original specs, but I kept it like it was. It's signed by Tom Hemby (I don't have clue who that could be). It's fitted with Tom Anderson pickups.

A few months after I bought it, I got t hese following mails :

Beste conrad5113,

Hello Just wanted to contact you regarding the Hamer T51 you recently purchased here on ebay. I am the original owner of the guitar and wanted to let you know that if you ever decide to sell to please contact me first. Thanks Gary

Hello Conrad

Sorry for my delayed response! I sold the guitar for $650 to a guy in

Canada earlier this year. The reason I sold it was I needed some cash to

put down on a house. I purchased the pickups direct from Tom Anderson and a

local guitar store installed them for me. I am the original owner and the

signature came when I was in Nashville recording an album. My band

contracted Tom Hemby to come in and lay down some guitar tracks. I thought

to myself I'll never sell this guitar and thus had him sign it. Well never

say never! About two years ago I brought it to Glazer Guitars here in

Nashville (that's where I live now) and had them perform a computerized fret

dressing. There are only five of these machines in the world and basically

it levels all the frets thus virtually eliminating any kind of buzzing and

such. Well let me know if you think you might want to sell it.

Thanks

Gary

It's really a great "picking" guitar !!!!

And a real "country" Hamer, I guess.....

That's a really cool looking guitar. I bet it sounds amazing! Does it have a mini toggle on it so that you can still get the neck/bridge out of phase tone? May have it on a pull tone knob or something as well.

Posted

Yes, it has a mini toggle, but it is hum cancelling. It's really a guitar that in IMHO is only suitable for that kind of music. So now and then ,I am in a "country" mood, and then, I am glad I have it. But you can't compare it soundwise with a "normal" T51. It"s the one on the left.
