savethematches Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Gary,I've just been there where you're at. My dad passed away from cancer in September. Feel free to email me as much as you want. I'm still adjusting to the loss and can share your pain. Also, I'll say that the people on this board are VERY supportive, and it helps greatly to know that even though your Dad is gone, that there are still people in this world that give a damn about you. Prayers coming from Central Illinois.
MCChris Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Thank you all so much for the kind words and prayers. My Dad passed before I could get back. I missed his passing by about 10 minutes. My mother, his wife of 53 years, was with him as was my sister. He did not suffer any in the end and for that I am grateful. While he was still awake, my final words to him were that I loved him and his to me were " I'm proud of you". I'll treasure that until I die.As well you should. There is no greater compliment in the world. When my dad died after a long illness, I felt relief that his suffering was over and he was at peace in a better place. Hopefully on some level you can feel this way as well.
Nuclear Wessel Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Glad though that you were able to share those moments with your dad before he passed away. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. God comfort you.
Sentinel Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 I have been through that, and I can feel your pain. Take care.
