MCChris Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 This bitch gets regular rotation with me. I can flat-out fly on it:
black magic Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Yep:1993 Jackson Custom Shop Archtop SoloistNot a Hamer out there can touch it.I just ordered another Jackson CS Soloist, all mahogany flatop.Hamer won`t take my money, so Jackson gets it.Jack.
Jeff R Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Gotta admit that "Bonehead" (my WWII fighter plane camo graphic Jackson Dinky) gets most of the playtime around my house lately.
black magic Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Jeff, Jacksons just play like the wind man!! Jack.
Hackubus Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 '04 R8 Les Paul plaintop has been getting the most gig action lately. 1957 Les Paul junior gets all teh go to action at home. #2 gigger is an 01 EDS-1275.
Arcolyte Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 It's a tough call for me. I have been playing the studio custom I just bought quite a bit lately but my 82' LP Custom silverburst is still old faithfull. Out of every instrument I have owned in the last decade I have always come back to it. The LPs made from 78' to 83' are quite wonderfull.
tafkathundernotes Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Due to some (improving) shoulder trouble my heavy CruiseBass5 has been relegated to second for now. My main axes are a Carvin B4 Bolt-neck bass (7-1/2lbs) and my featherweight Hamer B12L for the crunchy stuff.
edgar_allan_poe Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Nik Huber Korina Dolphion II. Followed closely by a Nik Huber Redwood Dolphin II...there is nothing even close to these two.
polara Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 My Pedulla Rapture. It jsut plays itself and it's beat up enough that I don't have to worry about the finish. Cruise basses just never quite did it for me... dunnow why exactly.
RkR Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 My #1 is my '87 Ibanez Jem. It's just so rediculously versatile sound-wise. It covers just about anything I need a guitar for, so it's been my main "go-to" guitar for a while. My #2 is My Jackson USA KE-2 Kelly #3 is my BC Rich Gunslinger My Hamer is actually pretty far down the list due to the fact that it's an EARLY sunburst with all the associated tuning problems that model is known for (that they later fixed). But, I do use it a lot for recording since I have the luxury of being able to re-tune between takes, but it will NOT fly as a "live" guitar. -=RkR=- Edited to add the Jem pic
Disturber Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 I don't get the question? Does people here actually own guitars from other brands New 4 digit Standard is the current no 1. I currently own only Hamer´s, no other electric guitars.
lonote049 Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 I play all my basses at rehearsals and gigs as well as practicing, but #1 by a very slim margin is my mutt, mahogany bodied, franken-P-Bass clone with a Fender "Original 62" pickup, MIM Fender hardware and a $20 e-Bay neck. It plays great, sounds fabulous and never needs truss rod adjustments; hell, I seldom even need to tune it because it is so stable. My 2-TEK Cruise is a close #2 and, if it weighed a couple of pounds less, it would easily be my #1. It is the best bass I've ever owned and it is definitely my best sounding bass...my bandmates LOVE it. The Reverend is a close #3 and my fretless MIJ Fender Jazz is #4. My Kay 1/4 size upright is a very, very, very distant 5th but gaining.
mattb Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 When I fist got my studio custom it was #1 but I have moved back to my PRS Custom 24. I am having a hard time adjusting to the stop tail bridge. I have grown up on guitars with a trem. I would like to get a Sunburst with a sustain block.
hudpucker Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 This one: 1997 'Cunetto' '60 Relic Strat. 9.5" fretboard radius, medium-jumbo frets, Gotoh vintage locking tuners and a no-load bridge/mid tone pot. One of the best strats I've ever picked up, too.
HamerHokie Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 I guess the question should have been: Anyone's number 1 a Hamer?
formula73 Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 My no. 1 is my Phantom Custom. Sorry if I wasn't supposed to post since it is a Hamer, but I love it. It's OK bro. My #1 is my Pepto Pink SS1. That guitar simply RULES! Is it? Wanna let me take that KK off your hands?
hardheartedbill Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 This one: 1997 'Cunetto' '60 Relic Strat. 9.5" fretboard radius, medium-jumbo frets, Gotoh vintage locking tuners and a no-load bridge/mid tone pot. darc Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Parker MIDIFly. A Hamer with locking tuners, floating trem, mag, piezo and MIDI out, and a glass fingerboard is hard to find.
anotherfreak2 Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 MY #1 is my Newport Pro,for 5 yrs straight,all stock!
silentman Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 I guess the question should have been: Anyone's number 1 a Hamer? LOL!Mine was my Standard Custom for most things except gigging where I probably use my Duotone the most. Now the Watson is #1 and I don't see that changing.
tone_loco Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 I guess the question should have been: Anyone's number 1 a Hamer? You beat me to it
Kilroy is all about... Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Within the past three months, my #1 has been three different guitars. February was the '82 les paul custom in bronzeburst; March was the '82 flying v 'the V' with those nasty 'dirty fingers' pups; now, in April, I decided to actually play my MIK Rick Nielsen Signature with the classic '57 PAF pups upgraded thru ole' bobby mack's BAD CAT CUB 15R. I'm beginning to believe that the late 70's into the early 80's could be viewed (perception is often clouded with bias) as the 2ND GOLDEN ERA OF AMERICAN BUILT GUITARS. Consider these era is the golden era for hamer with the '4-digit' mania and it is when Gibson did some great guitar designs and was diligent in their quality assurance/control. Disturber...what new 4-digit did ya' get? My first les paul custom was a SILVERBURST...so a huge shout-out to whomever posted about the silverburst being #1. kilroy sends...
Hamer_SS_guy Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 My No. 1 guitar is a Hamer (green Cali Elite), but my No. 1 bass is a Fender Am Dlx Jazz Bass (with the old 9V active electronics), so the Hamer is only second to it. Bass and guitar get equal playtime with me.
